10/12/2016 - Arizona Senior Fall Classic Matthew is an athletic catching prospect with a strong/projectable frame. He showed well during his time at the Arizona Fall Classic. Behind the plate, Matthew presents a low target and receives the ball well with a soft glove. He is agile in his movements laterally and does a nice job blocking the baseball. Matthew has a quick release and continues to improve his arm strength. He also has strong leadership qualities and handles his pitchers professionally. As a right-handed hitter, Matthew has a square stance with a firm front side and on time stride. He stays balanced and his swing path is direct producing consistent contact. He has a line drive approach and projects power as he continues to build strength. Matthew is a hard worker who comes to play every day with an above average skill set that continues to improve. He shows that he has the 6th tool, which cannot be taught.

06/05/2016 - National Tryout Plus - Bakersfield, CA Matthew continues to show well on the diamond. Behind the dish, this athletic backstop sits in well and tracks pitches into a soft/sure mitt. Transfer is smooth as he works in-line toward his target at 2B putting his throws on the bag. With the bat, he has quiet/simple actions while standing in with centered balance. He whips the barrel on a short/direct path to the zone, squares the ball up and drives it with some pop when centered. Matthew is solid all-around catcher who should find success as he approaches his senior year.

01/15/2016 - Under Armour All-America Pre-Season Tournament Matthew is continues to show well on the diamond. Behind the dish, this solid backstop presents a low target and sticks pitches framing well. He gains ground with a quick transfer putting the ball on the 2B bag - pop times still at 1.96. He shows his athleticism with his ability to body up pitches in the dirt off of a soft chest. As a hitter - this righty has quiet actions waiting for a pitch he likes. Swing is quick as he barrels the ball up consistently and drives the middle of the field. Anderson has progressed nicely into a solid all-around prospect behind the plate.

10/28/2015 - Under Armour SoCal Classic, powered by Baseball Factory's Team One Anderson continues to shine as he showed well during his time at the SoCal Classic. Behind the dish, this defensive specialist presents a soft/low target while maintaining good flexion. He has good pocket awareness and frames pitches well. Pop times are still sub 2's as he will control the running game. Offensively, Matthew stands in well with fluid rhythm. He has good zone awareness and doesn't swing at much that he cannot handle. He barrels the ball up consistently and proved to be a tough out. A solid all-around prospect - Matthew is a hard working player who gives his all every time he steps onto the field.

09/13/2015 - College PREP - Fresno, CA Matthew continues to show well on the diamond. With the bat, this righty has a balanced/athletic setup with a solid base. Swing is short/quick to and through the zone as he connects and drives the ball with pop. He engages his lower 1/2 which helps to generate pop off of his barrel. Behind the dish, Matthew sits in well with flexion and sway. He is quick laterally around pitches in the dirt and centers the ball off of his chest. Exchange is smooth with accurate throws down to 2B. Matthew is a well-rounded athlete who (2017 grad) will find success on the diamond.

06/13/2015 - Omaha National World Series - Session 1 Matthew was down to a 1.96 pop time in his most recent outing with Baseball Factory. Defensively, he showed to be a great receiver with soft/sure hands, sticking pitches. He was smart behind the plate, calling a good game, and knew where to go with the ball at all times. He threw with a nice clean arm stroke and was consistently on the bag. Offensively, he had a good approach with balance and lower half drive. He generates good bat speed with his direct path and had a pair of singles in game play. Matthew is a very versatile player that can fill in over at the hot corner, and throw strikes on the bump with a plus CB. In all - we look forward to working with Matt as he progresses through high school.

11/06/2014 - Baseball Factory Select Training & Competition in Arizona Matthew is a very coachable player who shows a willingness to learn. Behind the dish, he sits in well with a solid base and he presents a low target. He works quickly around pitches in the dirt an deadens the ball off of his chest. Swing is short/compact as he connects and squares the ball up consistently. He barrels the ball up, putting the ball in play and putting pressure on the defense. Anderson has a high baseball IQ and is a leader on the diamond.

Tool Grade Scale

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
