11/08/2019 - Baseball Factory's Fall Classic Tournament at Pirate City (Ages 12-14) Matthew continues to shine on the diamond. In the OF, he displays smooth actions. He takes proper routes / angles in tracking down balls. He works to get behind balls but needs to play through more with momentum to his target. Range will increase as he improves foot quickness. Throws are accurate but will benefit by building more arm strength through a long toss program. At the plate, he shows a squared setup. Hands are loose and work through a level swing path. He stays inside the ball, utilizing all fields through a line drive approach. Power will continue to increase as he utilizes his lower half more efficiently. Mental makeup is a plus as he has a positive attitude, works hard, and is very coachable.

09/15/2019 - Interactive Video Program - Moosic (Scranton), PA Matthew is a lean, 2-way player who plays OF and Catcher. In the OF, Matthew has active feet, good pre-pitch actions, and his hands are firm. He fields in a square position, plays through the ball, and has a long/consistent arm to his cut off man. Behind the plate, Matthew holds a good target, he tracks well, and his feet are active. He covers the 5 hole when blocking, gains ground, and throws with solid direction to 2nd base. Offensively, Matthew has a square set-up, a solid base, and a short stride toward the pitcher. He has good bat speed and swings in solid rhythm. Matthew can continue to get better with work on the following.

Outfield
1. Sure up glove
2. Quicken feet
3. Release
Catching
1. Throw downhill
2. Arm action
Offense
1. Load
2. Lower body
3. Barrel accuracy

Tool Grade Scale

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
