05/28/2019 - 2019 Under Armour Showcase: Baseball Factory's National South Matthew is an athletic and talented OF/LHP prospect. In the OF, Matthew has a strong arm and makes accurate throws. He works behind the ball, he creates angles to the ball, and makes the routine play. At the plate, Matthew starts in an athletic and crouched stance. He has rhythm in his load, he gets his hands back into the drive position, and he stays balanced through contact. He creates backside drive with his lower half, has good barrel direction through the ball, and a middle approach. On the bump, Matthew gathers over the rubber, separates on time, and works north to south in his delivery. He has good arm action and attacks the strike zone. He makes consistent hard contact and drives the ball to all fields. Matthew has tremendous upside and we hope to see his progress in the future.

Tool Grade Scale

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
