01/13/2017 - Baseball Factory National Spring Training at Pirate City Matthew continues to show improvements in his baseball abilities. Behind the plate, feet are active as he gains ground and works through a clean/transfer exchange. Pop times have improved as he threw his lowest time to date at 2.69 with accuracy on his throws. Times will continue to improve as he builds more arm strength and works to get rid of the baseball quicker. Hands are clean and tracks well but needs to let the ball travel and soften hands. He uses his body well in the blocking process but needs to get down sooner and create better angles. At the plate, he shows a tall setup. Hands are loose and work through an aggressive swing path. He makes consistent contact through a line drive approach. He makes adjustments, displays good plate discipline, and battles creating a tough out. Mental makeup is a plus as he is coachable, plays hard, and is a great team player.
