06/12/2018 - 2018 Under Armour Showcase: Baseball Factory's National Florida This athletic SS shows a tremendous future on the dia-mond. A RHH, hands are quick as he squares the ball up consistently driving it on a line. He has strength (91 mph exit velocity) in his swing with gap-to-gap pop. Defensive-ly, he takes a quick first step and has plus lateral range. He creates angles around the GB with fluid actions. DP turns are quick with zip on his throws (85 mph velocity). Range is a plus (6.63 60 time) as he moves well laterally and co-vers a lot of ground. Matthew has a ton of upside and pos-sesses the skill set that will play at a very high level.

01/13/2017 - Under Armour All-America Pre-Season Tournament Matthew continues to improve each time we see him. He is a talented, athletic 2019 infielder with a good mix of tools and the ability to use them. He is a polished defender at SS with smooth actions, sure hands and a feel for the tempo necessary to play the infield at higher levels. At the plate Matthew has rhythm to his right-handed stroke with good eye/hand coordination that lets him make solid contact on a regular basis. He went 2-4 with 2 walks in game play while also stealing a couple bases. Matthew has a complete game that will be exciting to watch over the next few years.

11/13/2016 - College PREP - Davie, FL Matthew continues to shine on the diamond. This athletic MIF has smooth/quick actions and works fluidly from right to left through the GB. Tool Grade Scale

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
