12/02/2012 - College PREP - McCook (Chicago), IL Matthew is a tall, thin right-handed pitcher. He throws a fastball, an 11/5 shaped curveball and a knuckleball. He gets on balance and is under control in his delivery. Fastball is straight for the most part, and his curveball has gradual break. The knuckleball is not consistent at present but tumbles a little. Matthew needs to get better extension with his front side and stay on line with his lower half, glove and shoulder longer through his delivery to see better extension and acceleration. Tracks the ball ok offensively with a quiet approach. Bat plane is level, but his contact is mainly to the pull side. Matthew needs to continue to work on overall strength and conditioning. These will be the biggest physical factors in his development.
