09/26/2020 - Official College Recruiting Membership - Wappinger Falls, NY Matthew is an athletic 2B who has a promising future on the diamond. At 2B, defensive abilities are solid as he displays smooth / fluid actions. Feet are active as he attacks and plays through balls with his body. Glove action soft / sure as he presents well out front. Range will increase as he improves foot quickness. Throws are accurate with carry but will benefit by building more arm strength through a long toss program. At the plate, he continues to shine through an athletic setup. Hands are quick (86 mph exit velocity) and work through an aggressive swing path. He stays inside the ball well utilizing all fields with gap-to-gap pop. Matthew has a lot of potential and will get looks from the collegiate coaches as he continues to progress his game.

02/20/2017 - Interactive Video Program - Brentwood (Long Island), NY Matthew is a 3B/OF who will graduate in 2021. In the infield, he displays quick feet as he takes athletic routes to the baseball. He presents his hands out in front with a quick exchange to throw. In the OF, he moves well getting behind on fly balls. He fields GB's in a low/square position and makes accurate throws to his target. At the plate, Matthew sets up square in the box. He takes aggressive hacks through the zone as he looks to drive the ball back up through the middle of the field. Overall abilities in his game will improve with work on the following.

Infield
1. Loose, athletic actions
2. Develop softer hands
3. Quicker exchange to throw
Outfield
1. Lateral range
2. Smooth exchange
3. Arm strength (long toss)
Offense
1. Develop a load
2. Bat speed
3. Lower 1/2 drive

Tool Grade Scale

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
