01/15/2021 - 2021 Baseball Factory Pre-Season All-America Tournament (TX) Matthew is a solid/strong 3B who can swing it. Offensively, this righty steps into the box with a purpose. He has an aggressive approach and is looking to jump on first pitch FB's. He fires the barrel with quick hands and engages his lower 1/2 well, connecting and driving the ball from gap-to-gap with power (exit velo = 87 mph). At 3B, he has active footwork and moves well into a square/athletic fielding position. He makes the backhand play smoothly with a clean transfer/release and strong/accurate throws across the diamond. Drabbant is a solid all-around 3B prospect who has the tools that will translate well into the next level.

09/20/2020 - Official College Recruiting Membership - Sugar Land (Houston), TX Matthew is a 2021 3B out of Dayton, TX. At 3B, he takes a solid prep step and attacks balls, playing through with his body. Hands/feet work well together as he gets rid of the baseball quickly. At the plate, he is aggressive in getting the barrel to and through the zone. He stays inside the ball, utilizing all fields through a solid line drive approach.

01/26/2020 - National Tryout Plus - Mont Belvieu (Houston), TX Matthew continues to show as a top prospect with improvements in his baseball abilities. Feet are active and plays through balls with his body. Glove action is soft / sure and presents well out front. Hands / feet work well together as he gets rid of the baseball quickly with accuracy and on line (82 mph exit velocity) across the diamond. Behind the plate, pop times showed in the 2.18 range. Behind the plate, pop times have improved as he threw his lowest time to date at 2.06. Times will continue to drop as he builds more arm strength through a long toss program. Hands are soft/sure and he sticks balls in the zone. He utilizes his body well through the blocking process, centering balls well out front. At the plate, power potential has improved through a squared setup. Hands are quick (82 mph exit velocity) and work to and through a level swing path. 03/17/2019 - College PREP - Tomball (Houston), TX Matthew is a C/1B prospect who will graduate in 2021. Behind the plate, Matthew sits in a low stance and tracks the ball into his glove. He makes a clean exchange and gets rid of the ball quickly, getting good carry through the 2B bag. Increasing his range to block can help Matthew improve as a C. At 1B, Matthew makes the routine plays and makes a clean exchange. He gets rid of the ball quickly, keeping his throws accurate with carry through his target. Fielding the ball out in front of his body can help Matthew improve as a 1B. At the plate, this RHH sets up in an athletic stance and takes a short stride. He shows a smooth rhythm and drives his lower half through well. He takes a direct swing with fast bat speed, leading to loud contact and gap to gap pop. Matthew can improve as a hitter by working more of a load into his swing. With two more years to develop, Matthew has the time and potential to further progress his skills on the field.

Tool Grade Scale

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
