11/11/2010 - Pirate City Select Training Matthew is a young, tall, athletic, 2-way player that plays 3rd base and RHP. In the INF, Matthew's hands and feet work well, and he makes some plays. He has a loose / easy arm action, good extension, and proper rotation to his target. A continued throwing program along with a speed and agility program will help INF skills further develop. On the mound, Matthew has an easy, low-effort delivery to the plate, good direction, and he competes in the zone. He has a good Pitchers frame, good poise on the mound, and his CB shows nice shape. Matthew will need to add arm strength and tap into his lower 1/2 in order to improve mound effectiveness. At the plate, Matthew has a good set-up and he puts the ball in play. He needs to add physical strength and quicken his bat for offensive grades to further spike. Overall, Matthew is a good kid, who listens well and works hard. He is a coachable player who made adjustments quickly.
