09/24/2023 - National Showcase - Glen Allen (Richmond), VA Matthew is a 3B/RHP who will graduate in 2026. Matthew continues to show steady progress in all facets of his game. At 3B he plays the game the right way and shows desire to be coached. Works from right to left as he covers ground and shows a good glove angle with hands out front. Has a loose arm stroke with ability to throw from multiple arm slots. On the mound he has a simple delivery as he works exclusively from the stretch. He works with good direction down the mound and gets his chest to his glove. A 3-pitch pitcher who works off of his FB that sits 77-79mph. He mixes in an 11/5 shaped breaker that flashes good depth and a slider he throws from the same window as his curve ball. At the plate he hits from a tall and even stance. Gets his hands separated and is balanced at contact. Showed a direct barrel path as he hit balls to the pull side with a bat exit velocity up to 78mph. With 3 years of continued growth and development, we foresee Matthew having opportunities to play at the next level.

01/16/2023 - Official College Recruiting Membership - Gambrills, MD Matthew is a 3B/RHP prospect who will graduate in 2026. Medium frame athletic build with strength present and room to add throughout. At 3B, he works from down to up and fields from a low fielding position with a clean transfer. Has a short/quick arm stroke in back as he throws from a 3/4 arm slot forward with an arm velocity up to 82mph. Made accurate and on-line throws across diamond, with a quick release, and keeps his feet moving throughout fielding process. On the mound, he gets a good rear hip coil and keeps his front side closed throughout delivery. He works with good tempo and throws a "heavy" ball. Attacks hitters with a FB that sits 75-77mph with good movement, an 11/5 shaped breaking ball that he throws with good command, and a slider that flashes tight spin. At the plate, he hits from an athletic and square stance. He gets knob to C and shows good rhythm to swing. Gets on-plane early as he hit line drives consistently to all fields with a bat exit velocity up to 79mph. With 3 years of continued growth and development, we foresee this 2-way prospect making huge strides on the baseball field.

11/08/2019 - Baseball Factory's Fall Classic Tournament at Pirate City (Ages 12-14) Matthew continues to shine on the diamond. At 3B, he displays clean / smooth actions. Feet are active as he displays proper footwork as he works to square ground balls up. Glove action is soft / clean and presents well out front. Range will increase as he continues to improve foot quickness. Throws are accurate but needs to build more arm strength through a long toss program. At the plate, he shows a squared setup. Hands are quick and work through a level swing path. He stays in the ball, utilizing all field through a line drive approach. At the event, he was 3 for 5. On the mound, fastball showed a range of 56-58 mph. Mental makeup is a plus as he has a positive attitude, works hard, and is very coachable.

07/28/2019 - Accelerated Interactive Video Program - Virginia Beach, VA Matt is a 3B/RHP prospect who will graduate in 2026. In the field, Matt fields in a square position and keeps his throws accurate with carry through his target. At the plate, this RHH sets up in a tall stance and takes a short stride. He shows a smooth rhythm and produces solid line drives. On the mound, Matt gathers over the rubber and separates his hands on time. He stays inline towards the plate and finishes with his chest over his front knee. Matt shows a two pitch mix with his fastball topping out at 57mph. Breaking ball sits from 46-50mph. Overall abilities can improve with work on the following.

3. Quicker exchange
Hitting
1. More load
2. Lower half drive
3. Level swing path

Tool Grade Scale

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
