07/09/2011 - Cape Cod Pro Select Training - July 9-13, 2011 Matt is a thin, lean, OF / LHP who will graduate in 2012. He lowered his 60 time from 7.4 to 6.97 in the 60 yard dash. He currently projects best in the OF as he approaches his senior year. Defensively, Matt has a quick 1st step, he tracks the ball well, and takes good routes and angles. He works behind the ball well, fields ground balls on the glove side, and he plays through properly. Matt has a clean exchange and he delivers the ball accurately to his target. OF skills can get better if Matt can avoid drifting and quicken his exchange. On the mound, Matt has a deceptive delivery and a good arm path. He has a comfortable set-up, he works in good rhythm, and he is effective in the zone. More glove side lead, not flying open, and sharpening his off-speed will help mound effectiveness further improve. At the plate, Matt has good balance, he keeps his hands inside the ball, and he works the middle of the field. He can spray the ball gap to gap and shows some pop into the gaps. A more square set-up and not flying open should help offensive numbers get even better.
