  • CPosition Projection

09/12/2021 - All-In Membership - Pearland, TX Matthew is a C prospect who will graduate in 2024. Medium frame athletic build, with strong lower half, and plenty of physical projection remaining. Primary C, has an athletic sit and tracks pitches well. Showed active feet as he works in-line towards second base. Works thumb under ball keeping balls in the strike zone. Square secondary stance with a good glove angle. Creates good blocking angles, with a quick collapse, and a soft chest keeping balls in front of him. Throws from a high 3/4 arm slot and an arm velocity up to 81mph and a best pop time of 2.09 seconds. Throws were accurate and on-line to second base with good momentum. A switch hitter, from the right side he hits from an athletic and square stance. Tracks pitches well and swings with intent. On-plane swing with ability to square up baseballs to all fields with a bat exit velocity up to 82mph during BP. From the left side, he hits from an athletic and square stance. A flat swing path enables him to spray balls to all fields with a bat exit velocity up to 76mph during BP. He showed better from the right side during BP. With 3 years of continued growth and development, we foresee him having a bright future on the baseball diamond.

Tool Grade Scale

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
