01/09/2022 - Official College Recruiting Membership - Houston, TX Matthew is an OF prospect who will graduate in 2024. Medium frame athletic build with strength present. Ran his 60-yard dash in 6.95 seconds. In the OF, shows athletic actions, with active footwork, and good lateral range. He creates good fielding angles and has a clean gather off his right foot. He works behind/through the ball with a high 1-hand catch and active feet. Creates good momentum on his accurate throws, with a short arm stroke, and an arm velocity up to 85mph. At the plate, he starts with an athletic and even stance. Has an on-time stride, with quick hands, and ability to use whole field. Showed ability to keep barrel in hitting zone for a long time with a fast barrel. Made consistent contact into both gaps with a bat exit velocity up to 80mph. With 2 years of continued growth and development, we foresee Matthew having opportunities to play at the next level.

01/08/2021 - 2021 Baseball Factory Pre-Season Prospects Tournament (MS) Matthew continues to show as a prospect on the diamond with improvements in his baseball abilities. Foot speed has improved as he ran his best 60 time to date. In the OF, defensive abilities are now solid as he displays smooth / fluid actions. Feet are aggressive as he tracks proper routes / angles in tracking down balls. He works to get behind balls and plays through with momentum to his target. Range will increase as he improves foot quickness. At the plate, he shows an athletic setup. Hands are loose and work through level swing path. He stays inside the ball, utilizing all fields through a line drive approach. On the mound, he shows good tempo through a repeatable delivery allowing his arm to work well to the plate. Fastball showed a range of 67-68 mph with tailing action. Breaking ball displays 2/8 shape with tight spin and great depth. He maintains arm speed on his changeup with sink. Off speed stuff show as quality pitches that will get outs. Control is solid as he attacks hitter and throws strikes with all his pitches. Stock on the mound will continue to rise as he builds more arm strength through a long toss program.

01/26/2020 - Interactive Video Program - Mont Belvieu (Houston), TX Matthew is a young, lefty, 2-way player who plays OF and LHP. Defensively, Matthew has fluid feet, soft hands, and he takes good angles to the ball. He works behind fly balls well, fields athletically, and throws with carry and momentum to his cut off man. On the mound, Matthew has good balance, eyes on target, and he separates his hands on time. He repeats his delivery well and competes in the zone with his pitches. Offensively, Matthew has a square/athletic set-up, good balance, and he swings in good rhythm. He has fast bat speed, a direct barrel, and he can spray to all fields. Overall skills can continue to get better with work on the following.

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
