08/30/2020 - Official College Recruiting Membership - Bradenton (Tampa), FL Matthew is an athletic/projectable (6'0"/160) SS who showed well on the diamond. At SS, he has active prep and works lightly on the balls of his feet. He works fluidly right to left, funnels smoothly and has a quick/clean transfer to throw. He has the ability to throw from multiple arm slots with accuracy (83 mph). As a hitter, this righty shows an open stance with simple/quiet actions tracking pitches into the zone. Hands are quick generating + bat speed as he connects and hits line-drives to all parts of the field. Perez has a solid skill-set with upside and should make an impact in this only his sophomore year.

Tool Grade Scale

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
