Official Scouting Report

  • 3B/RHPPosition Projection

08/02/2018 - Baseball Factory Pro Select Training at Historic Dodgertown (Ages 12-14) Matthew is an athletic and talented 2023 2-way prospect that works hard and made several adjustments throughout the week at Vero Beach. At the hot corner, Matthew is on time with his prep step, he presents a low/early glove, and works around the ball. Continuing to practice game like throws in his throwing program will increase his ability to throw from multiple arm angles and on the run. At the plate, Matthew start in an athletic stance, loads his hands back into the drive position, and keeps his head down at contact. He needs to continue to attack the inside part of the ball and create backside rotation. On the bump, Matthew gathers over the rubber, separates on time, and has a loose arm action. He has good tempo in his delivery and works north to south. His change up has slight sink and his fastball tops out at 62 MPH. Matthew will continue to improve with experience and we hope to see his progress in the future.

01/21/2018 - Interactive Video Program - Delray Beach, FL Matthew is a young, 2-way player who plays 3B and RHP. On the mound, Matthew stands over the rubber well, he has a clean arm action, and repeats his delivery well. He separates on-time, has a controlled landing, and competes in the zone with his FB. At 3B, Matthew has playable hands and feet, he makes the routine plays, and throws with accuracy to his target. At the plate, Matthew has a square set-up, a proper load, and he tracks the ball well. He has a direct barrel to the ball and can spray to all fields. Matthew can improve skills with work on the following.

1. Finish
2. Long toss

Tool Grade Scale

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
