06/21/2017 - Baseball Factory Select Training at the College World Series (Ages 12-14) Matthew is a coachable player who worked hard on his skills during his time at the Baseball Factory Select Training at the College World Series. In the field, Matthew shows efficient footwork and covers a lot of ground. He presents his glove to the ball and fields with firm hands. He gains momentum well on his throws which allows them to remain accurate and on-line to his target. Matthew can improve defensively by getting into a lower fielding position. At the plate, Matthew sets up in a tall stance and takes a short stride to the ball. He gets into his load and leads well with his lower half. He comes through the zone with decent bat speed making consistent contact. Matthew can improve as a hitter by developing more rhythm in the box. On the mound, Matthew has a quiet, repeatable delivery and keeps his eyes on his target. His fastball tops out at 59mph with good arm side tail. Matthew can improve as a pitcher by driving his lower half towards the plate. Only a 2021 grad, Mathew has the time and potential to further develop his skills.

03/24/2017 - College PREP - Dubai, UAE Matthew is a lean built SS that hits from the left side. Offensively, he showed an ability to make adjustments and had a good load to get his body ready to hit. He delivered the barrel on-plane to contact and had feel for the pull-side. At short, he displayed a clean glove and was agile, making plays with some ease and athleticism. On the mound, he threw a FB and a cut CH with strong repeatability. He has a great pitchers frame and has more velocity in his lower half. Matthew has an intriguing frame and a left handed swing that is always enticing.

08/04/2016 - Baseball Factory Pro Select Training at Historic Dodgertown Matthew continues to show steady progress in his baseball abilities. At SS, he displays fluid/smooth actions. Feet are aggressive as he attacks balls and squares up well with his body. Hands are clean but will benefit by presenting more out front. Increasing foot quickness will aid in improving range. At the plate, he shows a squared/balanced setup. Hands are loose and work through a level swing path. He works to keep hands inside the ball, utilizing all fields through a line drive approach. Power will continue to improve as he works to utilize his lower half more aggressively. On the mound, fastball showed a range of 56-57 mph. Getting on a long toss program to develop more arm strength will aid in improving abilities on the mound. Overall, Matthew has nice upside with time and room to continue to progress his game.

03/25/2016 - Interactive Video Program - Dubai, UAE Matthew is a young INF that showed his best ability offensively, at his first Baseball Factory outing. At the dish, he was aggressive to attack balls in the zone and delivered the barrel on a level path. He showed an exit velocity of 60 mph and will continue to show hard contact when he uses his lower half and hands together. Defensively, he worked his body in front to field and made some of the routine plays. Quickening his feet and becoming more agile is key to his further growth and development. All in all - Matthew has some feel for baseball skill and with continued speed/strength development will be able to compete at a higher level.

Tool Grade Scale

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
