Foot speed is solid average and he utilizes his quick, athletic feet well through the fielding process in coming to get balls in the infield. Exchange is clean but he pats the baseball before release. He can get rid of the baseball quicker by eliminating the glove pat. Glove action is soft, sure and presented down and out front. He makes all the plays while displaying near above average defensive abilities. Arm strength is above average displaying life, carry, and accuracy on his throws across the diamond. At the plate is where Rubino shows best displaying well above average abilities with above average power. Stance is square and maintains balance throughout the swing allowing his hands to work inside the baseball, utilizing all fields. Bat speed is present and he shows a solid feel for the barrel with the baseball jumping off his bat when centered. With 2 years to further develop, Matthew has the makings to be a solid collegiate infielder and will get looks from the collegiate coaches.
