01/13/2023 - Baseball Factory's Spring Training at Jackie Robinson Training Complex (HS) Matthew is a 2024 OF prospect who continues to develop and show real ability to play at the college level. Defensively he shows a feel for the ball in the air and to complete the play, while his angles on the ball in gaps or down the lines on the ground are excellent. His athleticism can play in CF, but will have no problem playing either LF or RF where he has the arm strength to be very effective at either spot. His throws show online carry with accuracy and he does an outstanding job of getting the baseball out quickly and efficiently to stop runners from attempting to take an extra base on him. At the plate Matthew shows the bat speed and feel for his barrel to be a productive college hitter. He can time up a fastball and gets through contact with a compact swing geared to produce line drives all over the field. In game he was one of the top performers for the weekend picking up multiple hits and multiple extra base hits in game. His swing is balanced and as he continues to add strength to his frame with maturity will play with power on the pull side and impact to the backside of the field. Matthew plays with energy at all times on the field and that intensity shows up in his results.

12/11/2022 - All-In Membership - Gambrills, MD Matthew is an OF who will graduate in 2024. Medium frame athletic build with strength present. In the OF, takes aggressive angles to balls, with active/efficient footwork, and showed good instincts as he worked behind and through the baseball. He fields from an athletic fielding position with a clean gather off of his left foot. Made on-line throws consistently, with momentum towards target, and an arm velocity up to 72mph. At the plate, he sets up with a tall and even stance. He hits into a firm frontside, with knob to C, and keeps his barrel in the hitting zone a long time. An on-plane barrel enables him to hit line drives to all fields with a bat exit velocity up to 79mph during his round of BP. With another year of growth and development, we foresee Matthew making huge strides on the baseball field.

Exclusive College Recruiting Program Matt is a 2024 OF prospect from Maryland with a compact athletic frame and quick twitch athleticism. In the box he works from a small load with quiet hands to allow himself to be in rhythm with the pitcher. With good use of his lower half and quick hands he delivers the barrel of the bat consistently with a feel for hard contact with his exit velo at 83 MPH currently and with leverage in his swing there is gap power and high contact profile. Defensively, he uses a quick first step and burst to cover ground quickly in the outfield with a CF potential and 80 MPH raw arm strength with allow his arm to play well in CF and LF. His throws are online with accuracy and feel for allowing the long hop to be an advantage. Overall, with athletic ability, strong baseball skill set and continued projection in his game Matt will be a solid OF potential prospect in the 2024 class.

Tool Grade Scale

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
