07/28/2021 - Baseball Factory Southwest Championships 17U Matthew is a 2022 coachable 1B/RHP prospect out of Elk Grove, CA who showed well during the Southwest Championships. In the field, Matthew displays smooth footwork and moves well laterally. He gets into an athletic position and fields the ball out in front with sure hands. His exchange is clean and he gets rid of the ball quickly, making accurate throws with carry through his target. At the plate, this RHH shows an advanced approach through a square setup. He gets his hands activated in his load and is explosive driving his lower half through. He gets good extension through the ball with plus bat speed, driving the ball from gap to gap with authority. On the mound, Matthew gathers over the rubber and separates his hands on time. He works with a loose arm and extends through his release, staying inline toward the plate. Tool Grade Scale

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
