01/13/2017 - Baseball Factory All-America Pre-Season Rookie Tournament Matthew is a skilled 2-way player (RHP/3B) who showed well during his time at the All-America Pre-Season Rookie Tournament. On the mound, this RHP has a 3-pitch mix in which to challenge hitters. He maintains fluid tempo, works to a controlled balance point and gets strong glove-side lead, driving downhill toward the dish. FB ranges from 74-76 mph while showing some tail. Breaking ball has 11/5 shape with early action while changeup is thrown with FB arm speed. He finishes complete and fields the position well. Added velocity will come as he works to drive his lower 1/2 even more off of the rubber. With the bat, Wilson has a balanced setup with a solid base. He takes a hack, barrels the ball and hits it where it's pitched, with the ability to drive the ball the other way. At 3B, he hustles into a square fielding position and tracks GB's into his mitt. He gathers well and has a clean exchange to throw. Only a 2020 grad - Matthew has upside will still a ton of time to progress.
