02/19/2018 - College PREP - Beverly Hills (Detroit), MI Matthew is a versatile SS/RHP prospect who graduates in 2019. Offensively, Matthew has a square stance with a firm front side. He has fluid rhythm with a smooth load and square stride. Matthew has an aggressive approach and shows fast bat speed. He has an on-plane swing path and gets extension at contact. Matthew consistently lands the barrel to the baseball producing hard contact. He is a line drive type hitter who has the ability to drive the ball to each gap. In the field, Matthew has a quick first step with a low approach. He presents his glove and fields the ball with firm hands. Matthew has a quick, clean exchange and throws from a 3/4 arm slot. He plays with momentum through the baseball showing consistently online throws across the diamond. As a pitcher, Matthew has a presence on the mound and pitches with good pace. He has a balanced, on-time delivery throwing from a high 3/4 arm slot. He has a clean arm action and extends through his release. Matthew stays square to home plate with a controlled landing. He finishes well with his chest over his front knee. He has movement on 4 pitches that include a knuckleball. Overall, Matthew has a well-rounded skill set and potential to advance his game to the next level.

08/02/2017 - College PREP - Detroit, MI Matthew continues to show improvements in his baseball abilities and has a promising future on the diamond. Foot speed has improved as he ran his best 60 time to date. At the plate, he has improved his hitting / power potential, now showing well above average abilities through a squared setup. Hands are quick (83 mph exit velocity) and work through an aggressive swing path. He makes consistent contact and shows a feel for the barrel with gap-to-gap pop. At SS, hands / feet work well together through the fielding process. Feet are aggressive as he attacks balls and plays through with his body. Glove action is soft / clean and presents well out front. On the mound, fastball showed a range of 73-74 mph. Breaking ball displays 11/5 shape with gradual break. He maintains arm speed on his changeup with arm side run. Control is solid as he throws strikes with all his pitches. Stock on the mound will continue to rise as he builds more arm strength through a long toss program.

07/31/2016 - College PREP - Detroit, MI Matthew is a solid SS/RHP who will graduate in 2019. On the mound, Matthew shows a three pitch mix with his fastball sitting from 76-79mph with good arm side run. Breaking ball ranges form 67-71mph with sharp 11-5 movement. Changeup sits from 69-73mph with good arm side run as he throws with fastball arm speed. Matthew can improve as a pitcher by gaining more momentum to the plate in his delivery. In the field, Matthew shows good preparation and body control. He posses sure hands that he presents on time to field the ball. He uses the proper footwork and has a clean exchange to throw which allows him to keep his throws on line to his target. Matthew can improve defensively by playing through the ball more and by incorporating a long toss program to build up his arm strength. At the plate, Matthew shows good balance in the box and has a square stride to the ball. He activates his hands in his load and takes a direct route to the ball. He rotates his core well and extends through the zone which produces good bat speed. Matthew can improve as a hitter by using his lower half more throughout his swing. Overall, Matthew is a talented prospect and with three more years to develop he has the potential to contribute at the next level.

07/16/2015 - College PREP - Auburn Hills, MI Matthew Wimbury is a rising freshman that plays the infield. Defensively, he worked well to get his hops and had a clean exchange to throw. He was athletic with his actions and looked the part in the dirt. His glove was sure and he had the proper footwork to finish plays with body control. Offensively, he stayed inside at contact and got extended out in front. He showed a middle approach to his swing and was an overall solid hitter. He rotates his core to help boost bat speed/pop and displays present fluidity to get ready to hit. In all - Wimbury is a type of guy that coaches like to follow at his age, with a level ability both defensively and offensively.

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
