08/03/2011 - Pirate City World Series 2011 - Session 1 Matt is a big, two-way player as a corner infielder and on the mound that will graduate in 2012. Currently, he projects best as a 3B/1B at the next level. Foot speed is average but he will benefit by staying on a speed / agility program to improve foot quickness for the next level. Feet are active and aggressive as he displays proper footwork and is a fundamentally sound defender. Throws display life, carry, and accuracy across the diamond. Offensively is where Matt shows best through an athletic setup. Hands are quick, generating bat speed as he works to keep hands inside the ball, utilizing all fields. He shows good barrel accuracy with the baseball jumping off his bat when centered. At the event, he was the most consistent hitter on his team as he was 4 for 9 with a 3B and barreled up balls on several outs. On the mound, fastball shows a range of 76-79 mph on a downhill plane showing heavy action. Breaking ball displays 11/5 shape with gradual break. Changeup needs further development to be a quality pitch at the next level. Mental makeup is a plus as Matt has a tremendous attitude and plays the game hard.
