09/16/2017 - 2017 Under Armour Showcase: Baseball Factory's Futures East Max is a 2019 catching prospect with a solid all-around skill set. He receives and blocks well enough to stay behind the plate, and his quick release led to times as low as 2.0 down to 2B. At the late Max employs an aggressive, pull-oriented approach. He starts open and has a hanging stride to time pitches. When he lands, he accelerates well through the zone and can drive balls to LF. Max has good eye-hand coordination, though he is a bit complicated at the plate limiting his consistency. He has a disciplined approach at the plate and should continue to refine his stroke making him an excellent follow at a premium position.

Tool Grade Scale

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
