USA Baseball 17U Championships Max continues to show as a top prospect on the diamond. On the bump, he had a tremendous showing at the event. He attacks hitters, throwing a lot of strikes as he works to get ahead of hitters through a quick tempo. Fastball showed a range of 86-88 mph with late life. Breaking ball displays 11/5 shape with late break. He maintains arm speed on his changeup, showing a feel for with arm side run. Off speed stuff show as outstanding pitches that will get outs at the next level. Control is outstanding as he throws strikes with all his pitches, locating to both sides of the plate. At the event, he threw 10 innings, starting 2 games, and picking up a win in game 1. At the plate, hitting / power potential are outstanding through a squared setup. He has fluid rhythm while getting good hand separation. Barrel is whipped through the zone (87 mph exit velocity) as he connects with strength. The ball jumps off of his barrel when centered. Mental makeup is a plus as he is a solid team player and works hard to be the best player he can be. Max has a big upside in the game of baseball as he already has gotten looks from some top D1 programs and could develop into a draft guy in 2020.

01/18/2019 - 2019 Under Armour All-America Pre-Season Tournament Max is a 3B/RHP who is a prospect at both positions. At the plate - he has strong/centered balance with fluid rhythm to load. He takes an absolute hack - crushing the ball to the deep parts of the park (exit velocity = 88 mph). At 3B, he has plus lateral range, working from the ground-up with smooth actions. Transfer is quick as he fires strong throws (88 mph velocity) zipping across the diamond. He continues to show as an upside on the bump. This righty has a 3 pitch arsenal in which to keep hitters guessing. Arm strength has improved as he threw his top velocity to date at 88 mph. FB jumps out of his hand and shows with arm side run. Breaking ball displays 11/5 shape with late break. He maintains arm speed on his changeup with sinking action. Slider is harder with tight spin and late, short break He works tall and drives downhill, repeating well. Control is outstanding as he throws strikes with all his pitches. Max will play at a very high level and make an immediate impact, possibly as a two-way guy.

12/27/2018 - Under Armour Baseball Factory Recruiting Classic (Ages 14-18) Max continues to improve his game, including now hitting 93mph on the radar gun. He also shows impressive raw power with the ability to drive the ball to all fields. His bat is fast through the zone and he delivers the barrel consistently to make hard contact. He is controlled and balanced throughout his swing to use all fields and cover the entire strike zone. At the hot corner, he shows all the tools of a quality defender at the next level. He is athletic and has quick, sure hands to field and get rid of the ball with lots of carry. On the hill, he shows a true three pitch mix, with command of each. He works ahead with his fastball up to 87mph and can put hitters away with a wipe out slider or fading changeup. Max is a top level talent who should make an impact at the next level very soon.

Tool Grade Scale

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
