01/15/2016 - Baseball Factory Spring Training in Arizona (Ages 14-18) Max is a hard working ball player that showed strong aptitude at the Baseball Factory Spring Training in Arizona. Defensively, he made plays with a soft glove and worked in his legs to throw after catch. He had a nice release and threw on-line to his targets. Offensively, he showed good rhythm in his hands and delivered the barrel on a direct path to contact with his hands and hips working together. He worked on perfecting his timing while at camp, and implemented tracking drills to see the ball all the way to contact. On the mound, he threw a FB from 70-74, and spun an 11/5 SL from 56-58. He had a smooth, controlled delivery and really competed on the mound, mixing both pitches for strikes. In all - Max has a bright future in the game as he grows and adds strength to his sound fundamental skill.

09/06/2015 - Interactive Video Program - San Francisco, CA Max is an athletic R/R 2-way player as a RHP/2B. On the mound, this righty has a 2-pitch mix (FB, CB) coming from a 3/4 arm slot. He works to a tall balance point, drives off of the rubber with his lower 1/2 and stays directional toward the dish. FB ranges from 68-71 mph as he throws it for strikes. Breaking ball has 11/5 shape with gradual action. At 2B, Max shows active prep footwork as he comes to get the GB. He fields the ball out in front and funnels smoothly. He works in-line toward 1B and makes accurate throws. With the bat, this RHH shows a slightly open stance with good balance. Swing is quick to and through the zone as he connects and hits line-drives. Overall abilities in his game will improve with work on the following.

Pitching
1. Arm strength (long toss)
2. Off-speed
3. Keep eyes on target
Defense
1. Earlier glove presentation
2. Backhand
3. Play through
Offense
1. Swing path
2. Contact points

Tool Grade Scale

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
