Official Scouting Report

  • Class Rating
  • 3B/RHPPosition Projection

01/26/2020 - National Tryout Plus - Dayton, OH Max is a strong 3B/RHP prospect who continues to showcase his skills on the field. At 3B, Max shows efficient footwork and takes good angle to the ball. He fields in a square position and makes a clean exchange, keeping his throws consistent to his target. Presenting his hands out in front to the ball can help Max improve defensively. At the plate, this RHH sets up in a tall stance and takes a short stride. He shows smooth rhythm and maintains center balance. He takes a direct swing with fast bat speed, leading to consistent contact and line drives. Max can improve as a hitter by working more of a load into his swing. On the mound, Max gathers over the rubber and separates his hands on time. He works inline towards the plate and finishes with a controlled landing. Max shows a three pitch mix with his fastball topping out at 73mph with sinking action. Breaking ball sits from 59-62mph with sharp 12-6 break. Changeup sits from 64-66mph as he throws with deceptive arm speed. Loosening his arm action can help Max improve as a pitcher. Overall, Max is a solid prospect who has the potential to further develop his skills on the field.

10/06/2019 - College PREP - Washington (Pittsburgh), PA Max continues to show improvements in his baseball abilities and has a promising future on the diamond. At 3B, defensive abilities are well above average as he displays smooth / clean actions. He shows proper footwork in attacking balls and playing through with his body. Hands are soft /sure and presents well out front. Range will increase as he improves foot quickness. At the plate, he shows a squared setup. Hands are quick (88 mph exit velocity) and work through an aggressive swing path. He has strength in his swing with power showing best to the pull side. On the mound, arm strength has improved as he threw his top velocity to date at 77 mph. Fastball shows heavy, sinking action. Breaking ball displays 11/5 shape with gradual break. He maintains arm speed on his changeup but throws too hard, resembling fastball. Control is well above average as he throws strikes with all his pitches. Stock on the mound will continue to improve as he builds more arm strength through a long toss program.

06/22/2019 - Omaha National World Series - Session 2 (Ages 14-18) Max is an athletic and talented 2022 middle infield prospect. At SS, Max is on time with his prep step, he has good hands, and has efficient footwork to the ball. He needs to improve his first step quickness and learn to bend at the hip to field the ball. He has a good arm and has good instincts on the field. At the plate, Max starts in a tall stance, loads his hands back into the drive position, and has a middle approach. He creates backside drive, hits off a firm front side, and makes contact to all fields. He went 5-7 with a BB and 2 RBI's on the week. He's a coachable prospect and can play multiple positions. Max will continue to improve with experience and we hope to see his progress in the future. Max will continue to improve with experience and we hope to see his progress in the future.

01/27/2019 - College PREP - Dayton, OH Max is a solid, athletic, 2-way player who plays SS and RHP. Defensively, Max has good pre-pitch actions, he covers ground well, and gives very good effort. He makes plays, his exchange is clean, and he throws with consistency from a short arm action to his target. If Max can quicken footwork, field lower, and play more through the ball, defensive skills will improve. On the mound, Max is aggressive in the zone, he keeps his eyes on target, and he separates his hands on time. He works quickly, lands with good direction toward home, and he mixes his pitches well. Offensively, Max has a tall/square set-up, good balance, and solid feel for the barrel. He makes square/level contact, has a direct swing path, and he uses some lower body. Hitting can spike with more hand load, added bat speed, and more lower 1/2.

Tool Grade Scale

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
