01/12/2018 - 2018 Under Armour All-America Pre-Season Tournament Max is a hard working and talented 2020 2-way player. In the OF, Max has a quick first step and create angles to the ball. He works behind flyballs and creates momentum with his lower half when he throws. At the plate, Max loads his hands back into the drive position and attacks the ball with his lower half. He keeps the barrel on plane with the ball and stays balanced through contact. On the bump, Max gathers over the rubber, separates on time, and rotates toward his target. He has good tempo in his delivery and fields his position well. Max will continue to improve with experience and we hope to see his progress in the future.

07/29/2016 - Baseball Factory National World Series at Pirate City - Session 2 Max is hard working kid who has the drive to get better every time he steps onto the field. He shows good speed on the field both on the base paths and in the outfield running down fly balls. He gets quick reads off the bat to take a good first step to the ball and increase his range. He plays through fly balls, gaining ground to his target with a clean exchange to throw. Working from the ground up on ground balls will make him a more consistent fielder and help keep everything in front. At the plate, Max has a good approach with solid tracking ability and feel for the barrel. He takes the bat directly to the ball with fluid actions and gets extension through the zone, spraying the ball to all fields. Max is a good kid and ball player and we expect him to continue to improve as he gets older.

04/17/2016 - College PREP - Kentfield (San Francisco), CA Max continues to show improvements in his baseball abilities with a promising future on diamond. He showed on the mound and in the OF for the first time. At the plate is where he has improved the most through an athletic setup. Hands are loose and work inside the ball, utilizing all fields through line drive. In the OF, feet are active as he takes proper routes / angles in tracking down balls. He reads well off the bat and is an accurate thrower. On the mound, arm strength has improved as he threw his top velocity to date at 68 mph. Fastball shows a range of 66-69 mph with sinking action. Breaking ball displays 2/8 shape with gradual break. He maintains arm speed on his changeup with tailing action. Control is a plus as he throws strikes with all his pitches.

01/15/2016 - Baseball Factory Spring Training in Arizona (Ages 12-14) Max is a young two way player as an Outfielder and a LHP. On the mound, Max commanded three pitches well (FB, CB, CH) with a good mix throughout his outing. His balanced delivery with a smooth tempo allows him to command his arsenal from the Hi 3/4 arm slot giving him nice natural movement. His FB ranged from 67-70 mph and his off-speed sat 52-55 mph. Defensively, in the OF, Max takes good routes to the ball, works through the ball well and throws crisply and accurately. At the plate he had a very good event hitting safely in 6 of his 9 plate appearances with a couple of RBIs. Utilizing the entire field enables his success along with a balanced, athletic setup, great swing path and a nice controlled finish. As Max matures and grows into his frame, he will continue to excel as an athlete

10/25/2015 - College PREP - Stillwater (Minneapolis), MN Max is a young LHP who graduates in 2020. On the mound, this lefty has a 3-pitch mix (FB, CB, CH) coming from a high 3/4 arm slot and clean arm action. He works to a controlled balance point, keeps his eyes on the target and stays directional toward the dish. FB ranges from 66-68 mph while showing slight sink. He fills up the zone and throws it for strikes consistently. Breaking ball has 2/8 shape while changeup has sink and is thrown with FB arm speed. Added velocity will come with added arm strength (long toss) and more lower 1/2 drive off of the rubber. Max still has a ton of time to develop his skills and physically mature.

Tool Grade Scale

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
