07/22/2020 - All-In Membership - San Bernardino, CA Max is a very talented 2-way player who has athleticism and versatility with the ability to play all over the diamond. With the bat is where he truly excels. Hands are loose/quick as he fires the barrel with a ton of whip/speed, connecting with pop and driving the ball from gap-to-gap. At 1B, active prep footwork on the balls of his feet allows him to move laterally with ease. He reads the hops and makes the plays with soft/sure hands. In the OF, he can cover a ton of ground with speed. He works behind and through the ball, with zip/carry/accuracy on his throws. McGwire is a prospect to follow as he enters his senior year.

07/17/2019 - Under Armour Southwest Championships 16U, powered by Baseball Factory's Team One Max is a coachable 1B/RHP prospect who showed well at the Under Armour Southwest Championships. In the field, Max takes a good first step and shows smooth, quick footwork. He gets into an athletic position and fields the ball out in front with soft hands. He makes a clean exchange and gets rid of the ball quickly, keeping his throws accurate with carry through his target. At the plate, this RHH sets up in an athletic stance and takes a square stride. He gets his hands activated on time and is explosive driving his lower half through. He takes a level swing with good extension and plus plus bat speed, leading to loud contact and great raw power. On the mound, Max gathers over the rubber and separates his hands on time. He works with a loose arm and extends through his release, staying inline towards the plate. Max shows a two pitch mix with his fastball topping out at 89mph. Breaking ball sits at 74mph with sharp 11-5 break. Overall, Max is an advanced prospect who will be one to follow going into his junior season.

USA Baseball 17U Championships Max brings his high level tools and athleticism to the field every day and did show in the OF for the first time at the event. He is natural and quick twitch in all that he does on the field. He has rhythm in his right-handed swing and he generates tremendous bat speed with very little effort. The ball comes off the bat hard (92 mph exit velocity) and he has advanced eye/hand coordination that allows him to square up balls with regularity. In the OF, he takes proper routes / angles in tracking down balls. He works to get behind and plays through with momentum to his target. Arm strength is at a pro level with throws displaying accuracy and on line zip to his target and threw out a runner at the plate. On the mound, he continues to shine. Fastball showed a range of 86-89 mph with late life. Slider is an outstanding pitch with tight spin and late / downward break. Control is a plus as he throws strikes with all his pitches and attacks hitters. Mental makeup is outstanding as he is very coachable and works hard to be the best player he can be. He has a ton of upside and possesses the skill set that will play at a very high level and possible 2021 draft guy.

04/14/2019 - College PREP - Costa Mesa (Los Angeles), CA Max is an athletic 1B prospect who will graduate in 2021. In the field, Max shows fluid footwork and is agile moving to the ball. He gets into an athletic position and fields the ball out in front of his body. He makes a quick exchange and gains momentum well on his throws, keeping them accurate with carry through his target. At the plate, this RHH sets up in an athletic stance and takes his stride on time. He is fluid getting into his load and drives through well with his lower half. He takes a direct swing with fast bat speed, leading to solid contact and gap to gap power. Overall, Max is a talented prospect who will be one to follow throughout his sophomore season.

Tool Grade Scale

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
