02/17/2019 - College PREP - Lake Zurich (Chicago), IL Max is a LHP/1B prospect who continues to showcase his skills on the field. On the mound, Max gathers over the rubber and separates his hands on time. He works with a clean arm and extends through his release, staying inline towards the plate. Max shows a three pitch mix with his fastball topping out at 72mph with cutting action. Breaking ball sits from 58-60mph with 1-7 break. Changeup sits from 61-62mph with cutting action. Max can improve as a pitcher by long tossing to build up his arm strength. In the field, Max shows efficient footwork and covers ground well. He gets into a square position and fields the ball out in front of his body. He makes a clean exchange and gains momentum well on his throws, keeping them consistently on-line to his target. Taking better angles to the ball can help Max improve defensively. With three more years to develop, Max has the time and potential to further progress his skills on the field.

01/18/2019 - Baseball Factory Spring Training in Arizona (Ages 14-18) Max once again shine at the event in Arizona. At 1B, he displays proper footwork around the bag and is a quality receiver. Glove action is clean but needs to present more out front. Feet are aggressive as he attacks balls but needs to square up and play through balls more with his body. Range will increase as he continues to improve foot quickness. At the plate, he shows an open setup. Hands are loose and work through an aggressive swing path. He stays inside the ball, utilizing all fields through a line drive approach. Power will increase as he utilizes his lower half more efficiently. On the mound, fastball showed a range of 67-72 mph. Breaking ball displays 1/7 shape with gradual break. Stock on the mound will continue to improve as he builds more arm strength through a long toss program. Mental makeup is a plus as he has a positive attitude, works hard, and is very coachable.

08/12/2018 - College PREP - Elgin (Chicago), IL Max is an athletic two-way player who continued to showcase his skills on the field. On the mound, Max works fast and separates his hands on time. He works with a quick arm and extends through on his release. Max shows a two pitch mix with his fastball topping out at 63mph. Breaking ball sits from 54-57mph with 1-7 break. Max can improve as a pitcher by gathering to a balance point over the rubber. In the OF, Max centers the ball in the middle of his body and fields the ball out in front. He makes a clean exchange to throw and keeps his throws on-line to his target. Max can improve defensively by long tossing to build up his arm strength. At the plate, this RHH sets up in an athletic stance and takes a square stride. He lets the ball travel and keeps his hands inside the ball. Max can improve as a hitter by working a smoother load into his swing. With four more years to develop, Max has the time and potential to further progress his skills on the field.

07/22/2018 - Baseball Factory National World Series at Pirate City - Session 2 (Ages 12-14) Max is an athletic and talented 20222 2-way prospect that worked hard and made several adjustments throughout the week at Pirate City. At 1B, Max is on time with his prep step, anticipates the ball off the bat, and is sure handed. He needs to continue to work on positioning off the bag, picking balls out of the dirt, and footwork on double play feeds. At the plate, Max starts in an athletic stance, keeps the barrel on plane, and is aggressive on the fastball. Getting his front foot down on time, and attacking the inside part of the ball will allow him to stay balanced through contact. On the bump, Max sits 66-70 mph on his fastball and throws a change up at 52-53 mph. He separates on time, has a clean arm stroke, and finishes over the front side. He needs to continue to work north to south and create run on the change up. He holds runner well and fields his position. Max will continue to improve with experience and we hope to see his progress in the future.

02/19/2018 - Interactive Video Program - Beverly Hills (Detroit), MI Max is a thin, 2-way player with an athletic frame. At 1st base, Max moves well around the bag, he has smooth actions, and fields in a low/athletic position. He presents his glove well, has a clean exchange, and throws with a high arm slot to his target. On the mound, Max keeps his eyes on target, he repeats his delivery, and works at good a good pace. He separates on-time and has good glove side lead. Offensively, Max has an open stance, a square stride, and average bat speed. He makes contact and gets some extension through the ball. Max can improve overall skills with work on the following.

1. Arm slot/strength
2. Release
3. Fielding position
1. Stride

Tool Grade Scale

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "present" abilities (tools), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year, using the scale below. However, grades 10-18 are not available for use with High School players (ages 14-18), while grades 55-70 are not available for use with Pre High School players (ages 12-14). These instances are marked as "--- N/A ---" in the "Description" fields below.
