The FB shows some cut at times and the CB shows 2-8 action with gradual break. He starts on the rubber at a 45-degree angle getting a relaxed knee lift and works to get his arm up on time. He works a solid front side glove action to try and create good rotation towards the plate. Max shows good actions on the bump but can improve by working on being more aware of the run game and solidifying his off speed pitches. In the OF, Max shows quick and active footwork as he works to the ball. As the ball gets to him, he works behind it making clean exchanges and gets rid of the ball quick. His throws are accurate and strong with carry. At the plate, Max shows the ability to hit consistently from both sides. His setup is square and relaxed as he keeps a quiet head and starts with a low hand slot. He works to keep his stride square and get his foot down on time. He needs to continue to work on positioning off the bag, picking balls out of the dirt, and footwork on double play feeds. At the plate, Max starts in an athletic stance, keeps the barrel on plane, and is aggressive on the fastball. Tool Grade Scale

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
