08/02/2017 - Baseball Factory National World Series at Pirate City - Session 2 (Ages 14-18) Max is an athletic (6'1"/145) 2-way player (RHP/3B) who worked hard on his skills during his time at Pirate City. On the mound, this righty works to a controlled balance point, maintains smooth separation and gets strong glove-side lead, driving downhill toward the plate. FB shows slight cutting action while topping out at 78 mph. Breaking ball has 10/4 shape as he works to keep it down in the zone. Finishing more on his follow through will help to add effectiveness on his CB. With runners on-base, he does a great job of varying his looks and timing to the plate. Working to utilize his lower 1/2 more and finishing with extension (towel drill) will help to improve his abilities on the mound. At 3B, Max hustles into a square fielding position and tracks the GB into his mitt. He gathers well and has a clean exchange to throw. With the bat, he shows a tall/open stance with patience as he doesn't swing at much out of the zone (drawing 3 walks at the event). He barreled the ball up solidly a couple of times in the game, collection 2 doubles. Working to swing on a shorter/more direct path will help to increase bat speed which will increase power. A 2019 grad, Max has a ton of upside with time still to develop.
