04/09/2017 - College PREP - Costa Mesa (Los Angeles), CA Max continues to show improvements in his baseball abilities and has a promising future on the diamond. He did show on the mound for the first time at the event. Foot speed has improved as he ran his best 60 time to date, now a well above average runner at 7.10. At the plate, power potential has really improved, now showing as outstanding through an athletic setup. Hands are quick (85 mph exit velocity) and work through a level swing path. He works to stay inside the ball, utilizing all fields and has strength in his swing with gap to gap pop. In the OF, defensive abilities are outstanding as he displays smooth/athletic actions. He utilizes his feet well in tracking down balls through proper routes/angles and utilizes two hands well through the fielding process. He is aggressive, works to get behind balls, and plays through with momentum to his target. Range is a plus as he reads balls well off the bat and covers a lot of ground. Arm strength is outstanding (89 mph velocity) with throws displaying life, accuracy, and on line carry through his target. On the mound, fastball showed a range of 79-81 mph with tailing action. Breaking ball displays 11/5 shape with early break. He slows his arm speed on his changeup, tipping off pitch to hitters. Max has the makings of a special type player as he continues to progress his game.

09/13/2015 - Interactive Video Program - La Verne (Los Angeles), CA Max is a talented athlete who can make things happen on the diamond. With the bat, this RHH shows a square setup with rhythm in his hands. He fires the barrel through a level path while the ball explodes off of his bat (exit velocity = 82 mph). He hits the ball where it's pitched and sprays it to all parts of the field. In the OF, Max shows active prep footwork with solid routes/angles to track down fly-balls. He gathers well and has a clean exchange, firing accurate throws with carry into his target. Max (only a 2020 grad) has an advanced skill-set and has a bright future ahead of him. Overall abilities in his game will improve with work on the following.

Offense
1. More lower 1/2 drive
2. Rhythm/Timing
3. Contact points
Defense
1. Play through ball
2. Transfer/exchange

Tool Grade Scale

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
