04/09/2017 - College PREP - Costa Mesa (Los Angeles), CA Max continues to show improvements in his baseball abilities and has a promising future on the diamond. He did show on the mound for the first time at the event. Foot speed has improved as he ran his best 60 time to date, now a well above average runner at 7.10. At the plate, power potential has really improved, now showing as outstanding through an athletic setup. Hands are quick (85 mph exit velocity) and work through a level swing path. He works to stay inside the ball, utilizing all fields and has strength in his swing with gap to gap pop. In the OF, defensive abilities are outstanding as he displays smooth/athletic actions. He utilizes his feet well in tracking down balls through proper routes/angles and utilizes two hands well through the fielding process. He is aggressive, works to get behind balls, and plays through with momentum to his target. Range is a plus as he reads balls well off the bat and covers a lot of ground. Arm strength is outstanding (89 mph velocity) with throws displaying life, accuracy, and on line carry through his target. On the mound, fastball showed a range of 79-81 mph with tailing action. Breaking ball displays 11/5 shape with early break. He slows his arm speed on his changeup, tipping off pitch to hitters. Max has the makings of a special type player as he continues to progress his game.
