12/27/2019 - Baseball Factory West Coast Winter Classic (Ages 12-14) Max continues to show the makings of a special type player with improvements in his baseball abilities. At 3B, defensive abilities have improved as he displays clean / smooth actions. Feet are active as he displays proper footwork as he works to square ground balls up and plays through with his body. Glove action is soft / sure and presents well out front. Range will increase as he improves foot quickness. Hands / feet work well together as he gets rid of the baseball quickly with accuracy and carry on his throws. At the plate, hitting and power potential has really improved through an athletic setup. Hands are quick and work through a level swing path. He has strength and makes consistent hard contact with power showing best to the pull side. At the event, he was 4 for 10 with a 2B. On the mound, arm strength has improved as he threw his top velocity to date at 63 mph. Fastball showed a range of 58-63 mph. Breaking ball displays 11/5 shape with gradual break. Control is well above average as he attacks hitters and throws strikes with all his pitches. Stock on the mound will continue to rise as he builds more arm strength through a long toss program. Mental makeup is a plus as he has a positive attitude, works hard, and is very coachable.

12/27/2018 - Baseball Factory Winter Classic - Session 2 (Ages 12-14) Max is a coachable 3B/RHP prospect who worked hard on his skills during his time at the Winter Classic. In the field, Max fields in a square position and makes a clean exchange. He throws from a high 3/4 angle and keeps his throws accurate with good carry through his target. Increasing his lateral range can help Max improve defensively. At the plate, this RHH sets up in an open stance with comfortable hands. He gets his hands activated in his load and drives his lower half through well. His hips and hands work well together as he makes consistent contact and drives to all fields. Working a smoother load into his swing can help Max improve as a hitter. On the mound, Max starts with a simple rock step and gathers over the rubber. He separates his hands on time and works with a clean arm, staying inline towards the plate. Max shows a two pitch mix with his fastball topping out at 58mph. Breaking ball sits from 50-51mph with 11-5 break. Max can improve as a pitcher by extending through his release more. With five more years to develop, Max has the time and potential to further progress his skills on the field.

Range will increase as he improves foot quickness. On the mound, fastball showed a range of 54-59 mph with sinking action. Control is solid as he throws strikes with all his pitches. Getting on a long toss program will help to increase arm strength which will aid in his development on the mound. Mental makeup is a plus as he has a positive attitude, works hard, and is very coachable.

12/03/2017 - Interactive Video Program - Sacramento, CA Max is a 3B/RHP who will graduate in 2024. Defensively at 3B, he's aggressive on his feet and works into a low fielding position on GB's. He fields the ball well with his backhand and tries to play through the ball towards his target. On the hill, this RHP gathers over the rubber with a 3-pitch mix. He delivers from a 3/4 arm slot with loose arm action and stays dictional towards home plate. With the bat, Max shows an athletic setup with smooth rhythm to load. He swings on-plane through the zone and sprays pitches to all parts of the field. Overall abilities in his game will improve with work on the following.

Tool Grade Scale

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
