06/02/2013 - College PREP - Atlanta, GA Max's most recent outing was a strong showing. He showed increases in almost every aspect of the game. His quiet setup and ability to track/stick pitches is beyond his age. He also shows a clean transfer and quick arm action - flashing pops as low as 2.09. Offensively, his numbers continue to progress with pull side pop and consistent contact. Max is just a rising freshman but shows great future potential with his 5'8"/190 lbs frame.

07/27/2012 - Baseball Factory National World Series at Pirate City Max Woolery is a big 2017 graduate who catches and plays 3rd base. In the infield he has soft hands, plays thru the ball well, has an athletic fielding position, and has playable range. Behind the plate he has soft and sure hands when receiving, has a stable set up, and shows efficient footwork. Would like to see him work on his blocking to be more consistent. He has a nice frame and with more experience Max will be a very good catcher at the next level. At the plate Max has an athletic and balanced set up, a sound load, and takes a short stride. He has a firm front with average bat speed and makes consistent contact. He had great at bats during the camp games going 5 for 8 with 2 rbi's and 2 walks. He showed the staff a good work ethic and a good attitude that will continue to take him a long way in the game.

05/06/2012 - Interactive Video Program - Atlanta, GA Max is a young, thick catcher with a strong lower 1/2. Behind the plate, Max has soft hands, active feet, and he covers ground well. He sits in low, looks the ball in, and he tries to center when blocking. Max has a clean exchange, good direction to throw, and delivers the ball with a long arm action with accuracy to 2nd base. At the plate, Max has a square / athletic set-up, a short / square stride, and good balance. He has fast bat speed, a level swing, and he uses his lower 1/2 well. Max is a talented young player and can improve with work on the following.

Catching
1. Quicken release
2. Lateral movements
3. Long toss
Offense
1. Stay short
2. Drive away pitch

Tool Grade Scale

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
