12/27/2018 - Baseball Factory Christmas Camp & Tournament at Pirate City - Session 2 (Ages 14-18) Max continues to show improvements in his baseball abilities. Behind the plate, feet work in line to his target through a clean transfer / exchange. Pop times have improved as he threw his lowest time to date at 2.38 with accuracy on his throws. Times will continue to drop as he builds more arm strength through a long toss program and works to get rid of the ball quicker. He shows a solid setup and presents a low target. He utilizes his body well through the blocking process but needs to get his body down sooner. At the plate, hitting abilities have improved through an athletic setup. He has fluid rhythm while getting good hand separation. Hands are loose and work through a level swing path. He stays inside the ball, utilizing all fields and has strength in his swing with gap-to-gap pop. At the event, he was 2 for 6 with a HR. Mental makeup is a plus as he is very coachable and is a solid team player.

12/27/2017 - Baseball Factory Christmas Camp & Tournament at Pirate City - Session 2 (Ages 14-18) Max is a coachable C/3B prospect who worked hard on his skills during his time at the Baseball Factory Christmas Camp & Tournament at Pirate City. Behind the plate, Max sits in a square stance and receives pitches with a firm glove. He throws from a 3/4 angle and works to keep his throws accurate to 2B. Max can improve defensively by quickening his exchange to throw. At the plate, this RHH sets up in a square stance and takes a square stride. He is smooth getting into his load and maintains center balance. He takes a level swing with decent bat sped which leads to hard contact and gap to gap pop. Max can improve as a hitter by driving his lower half more. Overall, Max is a solid prospect who has the potential to further develop his skills on the field.

08/31/2013 - Little League® Experience - Central Regional (Indianapolis, IN) Max is a 2020 graduate who plays 3B and RHP. As a fielder he has a good setup and tracks the ball well. He needs to improve his footwork, both for speed and agility and long toss for arm strength. His fielding position needs to be more athletic and his hands need to be softer. On the mound Max showed some skills. The most important thing for him to work on is getting the release point out front (extension) and getting his chest out over his front thigh. At the plate Max has an athletic setup and an aggressive approach. He needs to develop an efficient stride/load (he bars arm), keep weight centered and use the lower half. Max is a coachable kid who asks questions, with hard work he can be a good player in the future.

Tool Grade Scale

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
