10/06/2013 - College PREP - Trenton, NJ Maximiliano is a solid catcher that will graduate in 2015. He utilizes his athletic feet well, working in line and display a clean transfer / exchange as he gets rid of the baseball quickly. Pop times show a range of 2.21-2.26 with times continuing to drop as he builds more arm strength through a long toss program. Receiving / blocking skills show as quality tools that will play well at the next level as he continues to improve. At the plate Torres shows a squared setup with balance. Hands are loose and work through a compact/ level swing path. He makes consistent contact and displays plus barrel accuracy with baseball jumping off the bat when centered. For hitting grades to continue to improve, he needs to work to get stride foot down sooner to work on time. Power numbers will continue to improve as he learns to use his lower half more. With 2 years to further develop, Maximiliano has a lot of potential and will catch the eyes of the collegiate coaches with his baseball abilities as he continues to improve.
