Official Scouting Report

  • RHP/SSPosition Projection

01/13/2023 - 2023 Baseball Factory Pre-Season All-America Tournament Maximo is an athletic, strong SS/RHP who showed as a prospect at the Pre-Season All American Tournament. At SS, defensive abilities are excellent he displays smooth / fluid actions. Feet are active as he attacks ball and plays through with his body. Hands are firm and presents well out front. Throws are accurate with carry (94 mph velocity) to his target. He utilizes his foot quickness in covering a lot of ground in the MIF. At the plate, hitting abilities are well above average with outstanding power potential through an open setup. Hands are quick (85 mph exit velocity) generating bat speed to and through a short / direct / level swing path, creating extension. Barrel accuracy is a plus with baseball exploding off the bat when centered. Power will increase as he utilizes his lower half more efficiently. On the mound, this righty has a 3-pitch arsenal in which to keep hitters guessing. FB shows a range of 86-89 mph with arm side run. Breaking ball displays 11/5 shape with gradual break. He maintains arm speed on his changeup with arm side run. Off speed stuff show as outstanding pitches that will get outs. Control is solid as he attacks hitters and throws strikes with all his pitches. Maximo has a big upside and will get looks from the collegiate coaches with his baseball abilities, possibly as a two-way guy.

09/19/2021 - Official College Recruiting Membership - San Bernardino, CA Maximo is a SS prospect who will graduate in 2024. Tall frame, well-proportioned, and physicality to the build and room to develop. In the infield, he starts with a good prep step and has athletic actions with active/efficient feet. Creates good fielding angles and fields from a square fielding position with ability to pick out hops. Has a quick transfer and made accurate/on-line throws from multiple arm slots with an arm velocity up to 91mph. A right-handed hitter, sets up with an upright and open stance. Square stride, with some quickness to his hands, and intent in swing. Good bat angle at contact who has natural juice in his bat. Hit line drives into both gaps with a bat exit velocity up to 89mph. With 3 years of continued growth and development, we foresee him having opportunities to play at the next level.

09/12/2020 - Official College Recruiting Membership - San Bernardino, CA Maximo is a very talented SS prospect who is fun to watch. Defensively, he shows active prep and works lightly on the balls of his feet moving right to left on his approach to the GB. Hands are soft as he funnels to a quick/clean exchange. Throws are strong & accurate with zip (90 mph). At the plate, this RHH displays an athletic/open stance with fluid rhythm to load. Quick hands fire the barrel with + speed as he engages his lower 1/2 well, generating good torque. He hits the ball where it's pitched and sprays hard line-drives to all parts of the field. Martinez (2024 grad) is a rising star and a player to definitely keep an eye on.

Tool Grade Scale

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
