01/17/2020 - 2020 Under Armour All-America Pre-Season Tournament Maxton is a strong C prospect who showed well at the Under Armour All-America Pre-Season Tournament. Behind the plate, Maxton sits in an athletic stance and receives with a strong glove. He makes a clean exchange and gains ground well on his throws, creating good carry through the 2B bag. He moves on time to block and centers the ball in the middle of his body. At the plate, this RHH sets up in a square stance and takes a square stride. He is controlled getting into his load and drives through well with his lower half. He takes a smooth swing with fast bat speed, leading to loud contact and great gap to gap power. Overall, Maxton is a talented prospect who will be one to follow going into his sophomore season.

05/25/2019 - College PREP - Salt Lake City, UT Maxton is a broad, solid C/RHP who has a tremendous future on the diamond. Foot speed is well above average as indicated by his 60 time of 7.15. Behind the plate, feet are active as he works in line through a quick transfer / exchange as he gets rid of the baseball quickly. Pop times show a range of 1.95-2.03 with accuracy and zip on his throws. He sticks balls well in the zone, displaying soft glove and sticking balls well in the zone. He utilizes his body well and creates good angles through the blocking process, centering balls well out front. Receiving / blocking skills show as outstanding tools that will play well at the next level. At the plate. he continues to shine, displaying outstanding hitting / power potential through a tall, open setup. Hands are quick (88 mph exit velocity) and work through an aggressive swing path. He stays inside the ball and has strength in his swing, driving ball to all parts of the field. On the mound, delivery is sound / repeatable allowing his arm action to work free to the plate. Fastball showed a range of 80-81 mph on a downhill plane with late life. Breaking ball displays 11/5 shape with late / sharp break and shows as an outstanding pitch that will get outs. Control is outstanding as he throws strikes with all his pitches. Stock on the mound will continue to improve as he builds more arm strength through a long toss program. With 3 years to further develop, Maxton has the makings of a special type player and will get looks from the collegiate coaches, possibly as a two-way guy.

Tool Grade Scale

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
