01/17/2014 - Under Armour Pre-Season All-America Tournament Mahon maintained control of his body through his delivery, gathered well to balance and landed soft and under control - allowing him to rotate his core to the target with his arm up on time. The ball left his hand well, he generated low to mid 80's velocity easily, and his FB featured good arm side run. He threw strikes and stayed in the bottom of the zone with that pitch, and spun a tight breaking ball with depth to its mostly downward action. He competed in the zone with his quality stuff, and in general showed a good feel for pitching. At 1B, he presented his glove out front and stayed in front of the ball well. He can work to maintain more athletic positions pre-pitch, and to play the ball. At the plate, he featured a balanced hitting approach along with quick hands and good bat speed. He let the ball travel deep and stayed direct with his route. His move was coordinated, thanks to good rotation of his core - allowing him to drive balls from gap to gap. There isn't much to go wrong either, his move is simple and repeatable, leading to a good amount of hard contact even with a wood bat. He is a talented offensive player with a good combination of hitting ability and raw power.
