Official Scouting Report

  • Class Rating
  • SS/RHPPosition Projection

11/03/2019 - College PREP - Knoxville, TN Kap increased radar velocity to 68 MPH, exit velocity to 74 MPH, and showed nice hitting upgrades during his last workout. He is a talented 2-way player. At SS, Kap has active feet, agile movements, and he fields squarely. He makes plays, takes proper angles, and throws with consistency across the diamond. A quicker release and using 2 hands will help improve defensive numbers. On the mound, this RHP has good balance and a clean arm circle. He works well to his balance point, lands with a proper length stride toward home plate, and he finishes completely. A better release and added arm strength can help mound effectiveness get better. At the plate, Kap has a square stance, an aggressive swing, and good balance. He swings in good rhythm, has fast bat speed, and he makes level/consistent contact. If Kap can stay short and finish off his swing, hitting grades can continue to spike.

07/21/2019 - Baseball Factory National World Series at Pirate City - Session 2 (Ages 12-14) McKinley is a SS/RHP that showed continuous improvement through camp at Pirate City. At SS, McKinley shows smooth footwork with agile range finishing through the baseball. He fields the ball low with sure hands making clean exchanges with 2-hands. His release is in synch around the diamond making +DP feeds as well. At the dish, McKinley sets up tall and open with low hands. He works hard to get the barrel on plane and shows the ability to spray the ball to all fields. Using his lower half and getting the hands into a better drive position will improve McKinley's hit tool. On the bump, McKinley shows a 2-pitch mix with a FB/CH mix. He works well downhill separating his hands on time to the plate with a proper stride rotating to his target. McKinley can improve his pitching with a long toss program to help improve arm strength. McKinley showed the ability to make plays during games and workouts with a solid foundation.

05/26/2019 - Interactive Video Program - Murfreesboro (Nashville), TN Kap is an athletic, 2-way player with solid overall skills. At SS, Kap has active footwork, he moves well laterally, and fields in a low/square position. He has clean hands, plays through well, and delivers the ball with carry and accuracy across the diamond. On the mound, Kap has good balance, a clean arm circle, and he separates his hands on time. He works to his balance point well, has a controlled landing toward the plate, and Kap competes in the zone. At the plate, Kap has an aggressive approach, good balance, and his hands are quick. He has fast bat speed, makes hard/consistent contact, and he uses his lower body. Solid overall skills can improve with work on the following.

Infield
1. Play more through
2. Exchange
Pitching
1. Release
2. Glove side lead
Offense
1. More lower
2. Let ball travel

Tool Grade Scale

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
