Official Scouting Report

  • 3Class Rating
  • RHP/SSPosition Projection

05/26/2018 - College PREP - Salt Lake City, UT Micah is an athletic SS/RHP who is a prospect on the diamond. At SS, defensive abilities are well above average as he displays smooth/clean actions. Feet are active as he displays proper footwork and plays through with his body. Glove action is clean and presents well out front. He shows off his athletic abilities on his feeds/turns of the double play. Range is a plus as he moves well laterally and covers a lot of ground. At the plate, he continues to shine, displaying outstanding hitting abilities with well above average power potential through an athletic setup. Hands are quick (87 mph exit velocity) and work through an aggressive swing path. He stays inside the ball, utilizing all fields through a line drive approach. On the mound, he shows tremendous upside. Delivery is sound/repeatable allowing his arm action to work free to the plate. Arm strength is excellent as indicated by his top velocity of 86 mph. Fastball showed a range of 85-86 mph with arm side run. Breaking ball displays 11/5 shape with late/sharp break. He maintains arm speed on his changeup and shows a plus feel for the pitch with arm side run. Control is outstanding as he throws strikes with all his pitches. Micah has the makings of a special type player and will get looks from collegiate coaches with his baseball abilities, possibly as a two-way guy.

Tool Grade Scale

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "present" abilities (tools), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year, using the scale below. However, grades 10-18 are not available for use with High School players (ages 14-18), while grades 55-70 are not available for use with Pre High School players (ages 12-14). These instances are marked as "--- N/A ---" in the "Description" fields below.
