Official Scouting Report

  • Class Rating
  • 2B/RHPPosition Projection

07/12/2021 - Cape Cod Select Training & Competition (HS) Micah is a 2B/RHP prospect who worked hard on his skills during the Cape Cod Select Training & Competition. In the field, Micah gets into an athletic position and fields the ball out in front of his body. He throws from a 3/4 angle and keeps his throws accurate to his target. Working on his foot quickness can help Micah make more plays. At the plate, this switch hitter sets up in an open stance with his hands held low. He takes a square stride and sprays line drives to all fields. Micah can create more consistent contact by working through a shorter swing. On the mound, Micah starts with a small rock step and gathers over the rubber. He separates his hands on time and works with a loose arm. Micah operates with a two pitch mix with his fastball topping out at 59mph with arm side run. Changeup sits from 53-56mph. Driving his lower half more can help Micah increase his pitch velocity. With three more years to develop, Micah has the time and potential to further build upon his skills on the field.

02/20/2021 - Mid-Atlantic Offensive Skills Weekend - Columbia, MD Micah is a 2B/RHP prospect who worked hard during the Mid-Atlantic Skills Weekend. At the plate, Micah sets up in a closed stance with center balance. He is smooth to load and works through a direct swing, spraying the ball to all fields. Driving his lower half more can help Micah produce more pop off the barrel. Overall, Micah is a developing prospect who has the potential to further build upon his skills on the field.

12/29/2020 - Official College Recruiting Membership - Gambrills, MD Micah continues to show improvements in his baseball abilities. At the plate, hitting / power potential has improved through a squared setup. Hands are loose and work through a level swing path. He stays inside the ball, utilizing all fields through a line drive approach. Power will increase as he utilizes his lower half more efficiently. At 2B, he displays clean / smooth actions. Feet are active as he displays proper footwork as he works to square ground balls up. Glove action is clean but needs to present earlier and more out front. Range will increase as he continues to improve foot quickness. On the mound, arm strength has improved as he threw his top velocity to date at 58 mph. He maintains arm speed on his changeup but throws too hard, resembling fastball. Getting on a long toss program to develop more arm strength will aid in improving abilities on the mound. Control is a plus as he attacks hitters and throws strikes with all his pitches.

12/05/2020 - Mid-Atlantic Regional Offensive Skills Weekend Micah is a coachable 2B prospect who worked hard on his skills during the Offensive Skills Weekend. At the plate, this RHH sets up in a square stance and takes a square stride. He gets into his load well and works through a level swing, producing solid contact. Working a smoother load into his swing can help Micah barrel up more baseballs. Overall, Micah is a solid prospect who has the potential to further build upon his skills on the field.

08/05/2019 - Baseball Factory Pro Select Training at Pirate City (Ages 12-14) Micah continues to show improvements in his baseball abilities. At 2B, defensive abilities have improved as he displays clean / smooth actions. Feet are active as he displays proper footwork as he works to square ground balls up and plays through with his body. Glove action is soft / sure and presents well out front. Range will increase as he improves foot quickness. At the plate, he only showed as a RHH through a closed setup. Hands are loose and work through a level swing path. He stays inside the ball, utilizing all fields through a line drive approach. Power will increase as he builds overall strength. On the mound, he shows a long, loose, and live arm. Arm strength has improved as he threw his top velocity to date at 55 mph. Fastball shows a range of 53-55 mph with slight arm side run. Breaking ball displays 10/4 shape gradual break. He maintains arm speed on his changeup but throws too hard, resembling fastball. Stock to the mound will continue to rise as he builds more arm strength through a long toss program. Mental makeup is a plus as he has a positive attitude, works hard, and is very coachable.

06/02/2019 - Interactive Video Program - Woodbridge (DC), VA Micah is a young, 2-way player who can switch hit. On the mound, Micah has good balance over the rubber and a clean arm circle. He works well to his balance point, gets good extension on his pitches, and has a controlled landing toward home plate. At 2nd base, Micah has efficient footwork to the ball, he comes and gets it, and makes the routine plays; throwing with consistency and direction toward his target. At the plate, Micah is equally as good from both sides of the plate. From the right, Micah has a solid set-up, he loads well, and he taps into his lower body. From the left, Micah stands in squarely, he puts the bat on the ball, and he makes consistent contact. Overall skills can get better with work on the following.

Tool Grade Scale

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
