08/23/2020 - National Evaluation and Tryout - Stockton (Sacramento), CA Micah continues to show improvements in his baseball abilities. Foot speed has improved as he ran his best 60 time to date. At the plate is where he has improved the most, displaying well above average hitting abilities with near pro level power potential through a squared setup. He has fluid rhythm while getting good hand separation into a strong launch position. Barrel is whipped through the zone (87 mph exit velocity) as he connects with strength. The ball jumps off of his barrel as he crushes it to the gaps. On the mound, delivery is sound and repeatable allowing his arm action to work well to the plate. Fastball showed a range of 78-81 mph with tailing action. Breaking ball displays 11/5 shape with good downward break. He maintains arm speed on his changeup, showing a feel for pitch with arm side run. Control is solid as he throws strikes with all his pitches. Stock on the mound will continue to rise as he builds more arm strength through a long toss program.

12/08/2019 - College PREP - Martinez, CA Micah showed well all over the diamond during his last workout with The Factory. At 1B, Micah has good actions, fluid footwork, and a square fielding position. He has good actions, he makes plays consistently, and his exchange is clean with a strong/accurate arm across the diamond. Added range will only help defense get better. On the mound, this RHP has a clean arm circle, eyes on target, and he separates his hands on time. He gets good pivot off his back foot, mixes in his off-speed well, and he throws strikes. More arm extension and a better finish will help mound effectiveness further improve. At the plate, Micah has a crouched stance, he loads well, and stands in with solid balance. He has fast bat speed, quick hands, and he uses his lower body. Hitting can continue to get better with a looser grip and a sooner stride foot.

04/28/2019 - Accelerated College PREP - Fairfield (Sacramento), CA Micah is a RHP/1B prospect who continues to showcase his skills on the field. On the mound, Micah gathers over the rubber and works inline towards the plate. He shows a four pitch mix with his fastball topping out at 76mph with tailing action. Curveball sits from 65-66mph with late 11-5 break. Slider sits from 72-73mph with good movement. Changeup sits from 68-70mph with arm side run as he throws with deceptive arm speed. Separating his hands earlier in his motion can help Micah improve as a pitcher. In the field, Micah fields with a firm glove and keeps his throws accurate and on-line to his target. Micah can improve defensively by getting into a more athletic fielding position. At the plate, this RHH sets up in a tall stance and takes a short stride. He takes a level swing with good extension, leading to consistent line drives. Working a smoother load into his swing can help Micah improve as a hitter. Overall, Micah is a solid prospect who has the potential to further develop his skills on the field.

02/10/2019 - College PREP - Martinez, CA Micah is a strong RHP prospect who will graduate in 2021. On the mound, Micah gathers over the rubber and separates his hands on time. He works with a clean arm and takes a proper stride. Micah shows a three pitch mix with his fastball topping out at 74mph with tailing action. Breaking ball sits at 61mph with 11-5 break. Changeup sits at 65mph with tailing action. Finishing with his chest over his front knee can help Micah improve as a pitcher. At the plate, this RHH sets up in a square stance and takes a square stride. He gets good extension through the ball and drives to all fields. Micah can improve as a hitter by working a smoother load into his swing. With two more years to develop, Micah has the time and potential to further progress his skills on the field.

Tool Grade Scale

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
