01/13/2017 - Under Armour All-America Pre-Season Tournament Hunter is a strong-built, athletic RHP prospect who graduates in 2017. On the mound, Hunter has a balanced, on-time delivery throwing with a clean arm action from a 3/4 slot. He extends through his release and stays square to home plate as he effectively rotates with his core. Hunter uses his lower half and finishes with his chest over his front knee. He has good sink on his fastball at 81-82 MPH. Hunter also features a 11-5 o'clock breaking curveball and deceptive changeup with good run movement. Overall, Hunter is a projectable pitching prospect who has a well-rounded skill set.

08/03/2016 - Baseball Factory National World Series at Pirate City - Session 1 Hunter showed on the mound and at 1B for the first time at the event. On the mound, fastball shows a range of 79-81 mph with arm side run. Breaking ball displays 11/5 shape with gradual break. He maintains arm speed on his changeup showing a feel for with sinking action. Getting on a long toss program will help to increase arm strength which will aid in his development on the mound. At 1B, he displays smooth / fluid actions. Feet are aggressive as he works proper angles and plays through balls well. Glove action is soft / sure he as presents hands well out front. He displays proper footwork around the bag and is a quality receiver. At the plate, he shows a balanced setup. Hands are loose and work through a level swing path. He works to stay inside the ball, utilizing all fields through a line drive approach. At the event, he was 3 for 9.

02/28/2016 - College PREP - Atlanta, GA Hunter is a tall, lanky RHP who will graduate in 2017 with a big upside on the mound. On the bump, this righty throws a 3-pitch mix coming from a high 3/4 arm slot and loose/free arm action. He works through a strong balance point and has smooth overall actions. Arm strength is well above average as indicated by his top velocity of 84 mph. FB ranges from 80-84 mph with arm side run. Breaking ball has 11/5 downward shape with late break. Changeup shows arm side run as he maintains arm speed and shows a feel for the pitch. Off speed stuff show as quality pitches that will get outs. Getting on a long toss program will help to increase arm strength which will aid in his development on the mound. Hunter has the makings of a special type arm on the mound as he continues to develop.

Tool Grade Scale

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
