03/26/2023 - National Showcase - Manalapan, NJ MJ is an OF/2B prospect who will graduate in 2026. Medium frame athletic build with strength present and room to add throughout. In the OF, good first step reads enables him to cover ground in all directions and make routine plays. Showed good lateral range as he works behind/through the baseball with a high 1-hand catch. Made on-line throws consistently from a high 3/4 arm slot with an arm velocity up to 73mph. At 2B, starts with a prep step and has good body control at the baseball. Works from right to left and fields from an athletic/square fielding position with hands out front. Made on-line throws consistently to first base. At the plate, he hits from an athletic and crouched stance. Showed good plate discipline as he only offered at pitches in the strike zone. Has a flat barrel path through the zone with a high finish. He hit line drives to all fields with a bat exit velocity up to 71mph. With 3 years of continued growth and development, we foresee the 2-way prospect making huge strides on the baseball field.

07/16/2022 - Baseball Factory National World Series at IMG Academy - (MS) MJ is a 2026 2B who worked hard on his skills during the National World Series. Keeps his feet active throughout fielding process and made accurate throws with an arm velocity up to 66mph. At the plate, he showed good barrel control and made consistent contact. He sprayed balls to all fields with a bat exit velocity up to 74mph. During the event, MJ reached base 5 times with 2 singles, 2 walks, and was hit by a pitch. With 4 years of continued growth and development, We foresee MJ making huge strides on the baseball field.

10/23/2021 - Mid-Atlantic Regional Offensive Skills Weekend (Ages 12-14) MJ continues to shine with his baseball abilities. At the plate, this RHH shows an athletic setup. Hands are quick and work through an aggressive swing path. He swings with intent and stays inside the ball, utilizing all fields through a line drive approach. Power will increase as he utilizes his lower half more efficiently, transferring weight front the back side into a firm front side.

07/22/2021 - Baseball Factory National World Series at Pirate City - Session 2 (MS) MJ is a coachable 2B prospect who worked hard on his skills during the National World Series at Pirate City. In the field, MJ shows active footwork with a quick first step. He gets into a low position and fields the ball out in front with soft hands. His exchange is clean and he gets rid of the ball quickly, making accurate throws to his target. Long tossing can help MJ build up his arm strength. At the plate, this RHH sets up in an athletic stance and takes a short stride. He works to barrel up the baseball and uses the entire field well. MJ can generate more pop off the barrel by driving his lower half more. With five more years to develop, MJ has the time and potential to further build upon his skills on the field.

04/11/2021 - National Evaluation and Tryout - Manalapan, NJ MJ is a 2026 2B prospect. At the plate, he does a good job of having a simple and repeatable load. This helps him get into a consistent launch position. Does a good job using his lower ½ to drive through the baseball. Hands get on plane early and extend through the baseball. In the field, he uses active feet to make plays to both sides of his body. Does a good job presenting his glove out front. Shows good fielding mechanics and posture. Quick and clean exchanges help create consistent throws across. MJ is a fun prospect that with continued development will be fun to watch.

02/29/2020 - Baseball Factory Mid-Atlantic Combined Skills Training - Columbia, MD (Ages 12-14) MJ continues to showed well at the Skills Training Weekend. This was our first look at him behind the plate and he showed good flexibility and some athleticism behind the plate. He has good hands that work well when receiving. A wider primary stance will help balance and target presentation, while also helping him get into blocking position quicker. At the plate, MJ shows a knack for finding the barrel. His simple approach allows him to hit balls off the sweet spot with consistency. A little better balance and more finish to his swing will help him begin to drive balls with more regularity. Overall, MJ is a versatile defender who swings the bat well.

Tool Grade Scale

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
