07/31/2013 - Baseball Factory National World Series at Pirate City - Session 1 Michael is an athletic infielder who can swing it. He showed some good improvements since we last saw him in Omaha. At the plate, he displays good rhythm and looks comfortable, staying relaxed. He delivers the barrel on a level plane and hits line-drives to all fields. Michael put the ball in play consistently and was a threat once on the bases. Defensively, he moves around the ball and puts himself in a good fielding position. Anderson plays the game with a lot of energy and brings his all everyday. He's coachable, a great teammate, and will have success in the future thanks to his work ethic.

06/22/2013 - Omaha National World Series - Session 2 Michael is a gamer who comes to play everyday. Offensively, he gets into an athletic setup with a solid and wide base. This righty makes consistent contact and uses the whole field. He has a good 2-strike approach and puts the ball in play consistently. Defensively in the INF, Anderson communicates and is a leader on the field. Active footwork provides his movement from right to left through the ball toward his target. He works hard to get to the ball hit in the hole and makes the backhand play. Mike also got on the mound a little during his time in Omaha. He works through quick tempo and stays in-line toward his target. CB is best off-speed pitch and shows 10/4 shape which he dropped in for a couple of strikeouts. As a rising junior, Michael shows the willingness to work hard and continue to improve.

02/24/2013 - College PREP - Dayton, OH Michael is an athletic SS with a strong lower half that will graduate in 2015. Feet are active as he works to square balls up while presenting clean hands. He moves well laterally, flashing range in the MINF. For defensive grades to continue to improve, he needs to play through balls more while presenting hands more out front. Throws are accurate through a loose arm action but needs to build more arm strength through a long toss program. At the plate, Anderson shows a squared setup with balance. Hands are quick, flashing bat speed through a level swing path. He uses the entire field but needs to let the ball travel more to keep hands inside the ball. Barrel accuracy is a plus with power numbers improving as he learns to use his lower half more. With 2 years to further develop, Michael has abilities with time and room to improve.

Tool Grade Scale

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
