06/23/2011 - Omaha Pro Select Training and Tournament - Week 2
Mike showed similar skills both offensively and defensive in Omaha as he did at his previous workout. He is a solid hitter with a good / balanced approach, good bat speed, and a level swing path. Mike is currently a better hitter from the left side, with good strike zone awareness and making solid / consistent contact. In the INF, Mike has a good set-up, proper pre-pitch actions, and he fields from the ground up. He fields out in front, he gathers himself well, and his exchange is quick and clean. Mike has a good arm, and he throws with accuracy and carry to his target.
02/06/2011 - College PREP - Houston, TX
Michael is an athletic, switch hitting 2nd baseman who will graduate in 2012. In the INF, Michael has a low / quiet approach, he covers ground well, and has soft hands. He fields out in front, works the double play nicely, and gets rid of the ball quickly. Michael throws with accuracy to his target and has plenty of carry on the baseball. Improved footwork and quickness will only help elevate Michael's defensive game. At the plate, Michael is currently a better hitter from the right side. He has a solid base, short stroke, and works the middle of the field. He makes square contact with the baseball and flashes some pop in his bat. More extension from the right side will help hitting numbers improve. From the left side, Michael has a short swing and he stays inside the baseball well. He has a quiet approach and he makes decent use of his lower 1/2. More direct hands to the baseball, better separation, and more extension will help left handed hitting grades rise.
