06/24/2022 - Official College Recruiting Membership - Trenton, NJ Michael is a C prospect who continues to showcase his skills on the diamond. Behind the dish, Michael shows active footwork and is agile moving to block. He sits in an athletic stance and presents a good target to the pitcher. His exchange is clean and he works to make accurate throws to the 2B bag. Long tossing can help Michael build up his arm strength. At the plate, this RHH sets up in a closed stance with center balance. He gets back into his load and works through an aggressive swing, driving the ball to his pull side. Michael can generate more pop off the barrel by engaging his lower half more. Overall, Michael is a solid prospect who has the potential to further build upon his skills on the field.

03/20/2022 - Official College Recruiting Membership - Hartford, CT Michael is a catcher in the 2023 class. Behind the plate, he is very calm and in control of his actions. He has active and effective feet. Proves to be agile and receives in a low and athletic stance. He works up through the baseball and keeps his thumb under for a clean pocket. His transfers are quick and clean and releases from a loose high 3/4 slot. Clocked a 2.35 and with added arm strength, he can sit closer to a 2.0 with his smooth actions. At the plate, he has repeatable swing mechanics and solid rhythm. Loads his hands and lower half well to create consistent squared contact. Can spray the baseball to all fields. Overall, Michael has solid skills and with two more years to develop, he will attract the attention of college scouts.

11/13/2021 - Official College Recruiting Membership - North Branford, CT Michael is a 2023 catching prospect out of New York, NY who attends the Loyola School. He improved his pop times behind the plate, throwing his lowest time to date at 2.21. Times will continue to drop as he builds more arm strength through a long toss program. He presents a soft/sure mitt showing great pocket awareness sticking pitches. He uses his body through the blocking process, centering balls out front. At the plate, he shows a squared, crouched setup. Hands are quick and work through an aggressive swing path. He makes consistent contact through a line drive approach with power showing best to the pull side. Power will increase as he utilizes his lower half more efficiently.

03/20/2021 - Spring Pro Training Experience - NJ (HS) Michael continues to show improvements in his baseball abilities. Foot speed has improved as he ran his best 60 time to date. At the plate, he shows an open setup. Hands are quick and work through a level swing path. He stays inside the ball utilizing all fields through a line drive approach. Power will increase as he utilizes his lower half more efficiently. Behind the plate, feet are active as he works in line through a clean transfer/exchange. Pop times showed in the 2.60 range with accuracy on his throws. Times will continue to drop as he builds more arm strength through a long toss program. He shows a squared setup and presents a soft mitt out front. He utilizes his body well through the blocking process but needs to work to get body down sooner. We look forward to seeing what the future holds for this 2023 backstop.

01/03/2021 - Official College Recruiting Membership - Milton, NY Michael continues to show improvements in his baseball abilities. Behind the dish, he presents a soft/sure mitt showing great pocket awareness sticking pitches. He uses his body through the blocking process, centering balls out front. Pop times have improved as he threw his lowest time to date at 2.60 with accuracy on his throws. Times will continue to drop as he builds more arm strength through a long toss program. At the plate, hitting/power potential has improved through a squared setup. Hands are loose and work through a level swing path. He stays inside the ball, utilizing all fields through a line drive approach. Hitting grades will continue to improve as he gets stride foot down sooner to work on time.

08/18/2018 - Interactive Video Program - West Harrison (NYC), NY Michael worked out behind the plate and on the mound during his last workout with The Factory. Behind the plate, Michael has active feet, agile movements, and he sits in low and athletically. He tracks well, keeps the ball in front when blocking, and throws with momentum to 2nd base from a short arm action. On the mound, Michael has a loose/quick arm action, hiss delivery is repeatable, and he rotates through toward his target. Offensively, Michael has an athletic set-up, he loads well, and stands in well balanced. He has a direct barrel to the ball and can hit to the opposite field. Michael can improve skills with work on the following.

07/07/2017 - Cape Cod Select Training & Competition (Ages 12-14) Michael continues to show improvements in his baseball abilities. He did show on the mound for the first time at the event. Pop times have improved as he threw his lowest time to date at 3.57 with accuracy on his throws. Times will continue to drop as he builds more arm strength through a long toss program. He shows a solid setup and sticks ball through the receiving process. Blocking skills need further development and instruction to improve. At the plate he shows an athletic setup. Hands are loose and works through a level swing path. He works to stay inside the ball, utilizing all fields through a line drive approach. Power numbers will continue to improve as he works to utilize his lower half more. On the mound, fastball shows a range of 47-48 mph. He throws a changeup that resembles his fastball. Stock to the mound will continue to rise as he builds more arm strength, works to throw more strikes, and develops better off speed stuff.

02/20/2017 - Interactive Video Program - Brentwood (Long Island), NY Michael is a young R/R catcher. Behind the plate, he displays a solid setup with quick footwork. He presents his hands, has a quick exchange to throw and follows through towards his target. Throws are accurate and on the bag. With the bat, this righty sets up square in the box with good balance. He swings level through the zone as he spays pitches to all parts of the field. Overall abilities in his game will improve with work on the following.

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
