Michael showed good command in the zone during his most recent workout with The Factory. On the mound Michael has a balanced delivery, he keeps his eyes on the target, and he separates his hands on time. He works in good rhythm and his FB shows nice A/S run.
06/02/2019 - College PREP - Swarthmore (Philadelphia), PA
Michael ticked up again in June with the fastball (up to 76 with good arm side movement), and his curveball is demonstrating more bite. The 5'11" LHP works in line with a simple delivery and throws all three pitches for strikes. Numbers will continue to improve with overall strength gains. We have seen a .4 second improvement in his 60 over the past 5 months and his grip strength jump almost 20 lbs. in that same span. He's demonstrated solid pitchability and can to work from different arm slots as well. Progress has been steady over the past year. Should be a competitor that keeps hitters off balance, throws outs, and eats innings.
03/10/2019 - College PREP - Bel Air (Baltimore), MD
Michael is an athletic LHP prospect who continues to showcase his skills on the field. On the mound, Michael gathers over the rubber and separates his hands on time. He works with a clean arm and extends through his release, staying inline towards the plate. Michael shows a three pitch mix with his fastball topping out at 75mph. Breaking ball sits from 62-64mph with 1-7 break. Changeup sits from 68-70mph with sinking action as he throws with deceptive arm speed. Michael can improve as a pitcher by long tossing to build up his arm strength. At the plate, this LHH sets up in an open stance and takes a short stride. He takes a level swing with fast bat speed and good extension, leading to consistent contact and line drives. Working a smoother load into his swing can help Michael improve as a hitter.
02/23/2019 - Mid Atlantic Regional Pitching & Catching Weekend (Ages 14-18)
Michael is an athletic and talented 2020 LHP prospect that made several adjustments through the weekend and was eager to learn. On the bump, he features three pitches and shows command down in the zone with his curveball. His fastball has tail, his curveball has sharp break, and he has good feel for his changeup. He gathers over the rubber, separates on time, and works north to south in his delivery. He needs to continue to stay in line toward his target and command his fastball inside to hitters. Michael will continue to improve with experience and we hope to see his progress in the future.
12/27/2018 - Baseball Factory Christmas Camp & Tournament at Pirate City - Session 2 (Ages 14-18)
Michael is a lean, athletic LHP prospect who shows good energy on the field. He's very coachable and a team player. While on the mound, he shows poise and stays composed while looking to attack hitters with his fastball. He shows a three-pitch mix including a FB with sink at 71mph, a 1-7 curve and a sinking CH with good arm speed. He has a clean arm stroke and shows sound mechanics to get to a consistent release point. Being more consistent on his finish will improve control of his pitches and allow him to mix pitches more effectively. At the plate, he shows simple mechanics to load and launch though the zone. He has spray ability and can put the ball in play to make himself a tough out. Michael is an intriguing prospect we want to keep watching.
08/14/2018 - College PREP - Trenton, NJ
Michael is an athletic, LHP with long limbs. On the mound, Michael has a loose/clean arm circle, he separates on time, and gets good extension on his pitches. He works in good rhythm, repeats his delivery well, and lands in a good direction toward home. More balance point, lower body, and arm strength will help mound effectiveness improve. Offensively, Michael has an open stance, he loads well, and stands in well balanced. He has average bat speed and can spray to all fields. Michael can improve offensively with work on timing, more lower body, and added barrel accuracy.
