06/02/2018 - 2018 Under Armour Showcase: Baseball Factory's National West Michael continues to show as a top prospect on the diamond. At the plate, hitting abilities are at a pro level with tremendous power potential through an athletic setup. He has fluid rhythm while getting good hand separation. Barrel is whipped through the zone as he connects with strength. The ball jumps off of his barrel as he crushes it to the gaps. With flexion and good sway he pockets pitches with a soft/sure mitt. Pop times remain in the 1.88 range as he gets rid of the baseball quickly. Throws show zip (89 mph velocity) with on line carry to his target. A talented prospect - he will make things happen both behind the dish as well as with the bat and will be a solid 2019 draft guy.

10/28/2017 - 2017 Under Armour Showcase: Baseball Factory's Futures West Michael is an outstanding young prospect with a desirable profile as a LHH catcher. At the plate he is balanced and confident, He waits well, is balanced, and delivers the barrel with authority for consistent hard contact. He can handle pitches in all parts of the zone, and reacts very well to the ball out of the pitcher's hand. He had a hard 1B to RF in the game on an 88 mph fastball up-and-in to him after a change-up down and away on the previous pitch. Michael is also a very good defender with a sturdy frame and a natural feel for receiving. His ultra-quick exchange and release led to times as low to 1.88 to 2B during the Futures West workout. Overall, this is a talented player with the look of a run-producing LH bat from a premium defensive position.

Tool Grade Scale

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "present" abilities (tools), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year, using the scale below. However, grades 10-18 are not available for use with High School players (ages 14-18), while grades 55-70 are not available for use with Pre High School players (ages 12-14). These instances are marked as "--- N/A ---" in the "Description" fields below.
