06/29/2016 - 2016 Under Armour Showcase: Baseball Factory's National South Michael continues to show a promising future on the diamond with the makings of a special type player at the next level. In the OF not many balls get down that are hit his way. Transfer exchange is smooth as he zips throws on a line through his target. He has the versatility to play all 3 OF spots effectively. A RHH - he stands in with a solid/strong base and has fluid rhythm to load. Barrel delivery is short/quick with aggression (88 mph exit velocity) as he connects with power driving all parts of the field.

01/15/2016 - Under Armour All-America Pre-Season Tournament Michael is a very talented athlete who continues to shine. As a hitter - this righty has a balanced setup with good separation to load. Hands are quick through a short/direct path as he barrels the ball up consistently, creating hard contact and driving the ball on a line. He is aggressive on the base paths and gets good jumps, getting himself into scoring position. In the OF, Connelly works behind the ball well and plays through it fluidly. Transfer/exchange is clean with accurate throws toward his target. Michael is a solid OF prospect who will play at a high level.

03/22/2015 - National Tryout - Greenville, SC Connelly showed in the OF/RHP at the event but currently projects best in the OF for the next level. Defensive grade are well above average as he displays smooth / clean actions. In the OF, he utilizes his active feet well in taking proper routes / angles in tracking down balls as he reads balls well off the bat. He works to get behind balls and plays through with momentum to his target. Defensive grade will continue to improve as he increases his foot quickness. Throws are accurate with carry as he gets rid of the baseball quickly and displays a well above average arm. At the plate, he shows a squared / balanced setup. Hands are quick, generating bat speed and work through a level swing path. He works to stay inside the ball, utilizing all fields. Barrel accuracy is a plus with ball jumping off the bat when centered. Power numbers will continue to improve as he learns to load more and transfer weight properly through his lower half. On the mound, fastball showed a range of 75-78 mph with slight arm side run. Breaking ball displays 10/4 shape with gradual break. He maintains arm speed on his changeup but needs to develop more movement on pitch. Stock on the mound will continue to rise as he builds more arm strength through a long toss program, develops better off speed stuff, and works to throw more strikes.

03/02/2014 - National Tryout - Greenville, SC Michael showed consistency in his playing ability at his most recent Baseball Factory outing. Offensively, he showed growth with the use of his lower half - increasing his bat speed and pop. He maintained a middle/pull approach with excellent barrel accuracy. At third, he presented his glove well and squared to field. He was quick with his feet and accurate with his arm. On the bump, he threw three pitches with increased repeatability from former outings. He flashed mature feel for a CH and threw it with solid control. Overall - Michael continues to be a promising prospect with a sound 6'1/165 lbs frame.

11/08/2012 - Baseball Factory Training & Competition at Pirate City Michael improved in several areas of his game since we last saw him. He lowered his 60 time, as he now runs a 7.81. Defensively, he has a good pre-pitch setup and presents his glove well. He gives good feeds on the DP and makes strong/accurate throws across the diamond. Fielding the ball further out in front will help him to get the better hop. As a pitcher, his FB now ranges from 71-73 mph. He delivers from a 3/4 arm slot which can be deceiving to hitters at times. He works directional, repeats well and keeps the ball down in the zone. CB shows 11/4 shape and ranges from 62-65 mph. Offensively, Connelly displays an athletic stance and good balance. He gets good drive from his lower 1/2 and makes consistent contact. At the event he went 3 for 6 with 3 singles. Michael is a good player who hustles all over the field. He is young and has a ton of potential.

Tool Grade Scale

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
